We haven't landed any one yet. Butters is a hope because "he was a bulldogs supporter" but far from reality. Competing with hawks and geelong has never ended well. Yeah we've shown the money to Wilkie but he's got 2 years left on his contract. Even if we convince him there's no way the saints let him go so it's not exactly realistic. It honestly surprises me to hear we're waiting for his response before looking elsewhere. I hope that's media bs.
I also don't know how this interest came about and if it was reactionary to Silvagni not choosing us. Budarick I've heard we haven't inquired.
None of us know at the end of the day. The doom and gloom is based on past history.
Either way we can’t force people to come, but it’s pretty obvious we’re not just ‘sitting on our hands’ like many are complaining about

New scuttlebutt is Wilkie will ask for a trade and be told no. If it's true we're offering 5 mil over 4 years then he has to ask and I guess it's up to St.Kilda how they deal with that. I like we're shaking the tree, hope we move on to Butts if it doesn't look likely though.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]👍 1Comment

Lever to stay
Melbourne defender Jake Lever says he is “fully committed” to honouring his contract with the club, saying he will not be seeking a move in the trade period.
Lever has been linked to clubs like North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs after a disappointing season for the Demons.
He is seen as a plug-and-play defender capable of coming in and offering stability down back.
The premiership Demon, who only played an equal-career-low eight games in 2025, said he wouldn’t seek a trade.
“Unless something drastic changes and they want to trade me,” he laughed on Channel 7.
“I’m fully committed to the Melbourne footy club.”
He said he was keen for a “fresh page” with a new coach, who is hotly tipped to be Nathan Buckley.
Collingwood assistant coach Hayden Skipworth dropped out of the race on Tuesday.

Well he was a Bulldogs supporter as a kid, however I don't see him as a fit for us even if Essendon did entertain a trade.
He's a great player but would cost a lot for a 30 year old, both in trade capital and salary. Would rather spend that on a position of need (Wilkie) or a young superstar (Butters).👍 2Comment

But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment
