A lot of noise building around butters. Does anyone see a world where we could get Jamarra to the suns for their pick 13 or 6?. Marra, pick 28, future second for Suns pick 6 or 13. We would most likely have to pay Marra's full wage too. Then we could go pick 10, (6 or 13) and future first for Butters and maybe their 2025 or 2026 second. But the big question for me is still Butts who is an obvious need (or any key defender of note). No way we could get butters and wilkie done....

The report suggested it was Hardwick who is keen on Jamarra (which you could understand given he wants highly rated talent with experience and not picks), again they have a thousand highly rated academy players in this draft, so their high picks would have to be on the table, remember they gave away a top 10 pick and Bose for nothing really in return, we need to Butter up with them to get their high picks to help them out, Jamarra if he comes good would be massive for the Suns long term and that would be Hardwicks thinking, i reckon he'd have a lot of pull when it comes to bringing players in, in reality they would be our perfect club to deal with.

On Butters, he or his manager really needs to let Port know that he will want a return either this or next season (if he really wants back to Vic), because they would get back in return a lot more now than next year with compo, that would have to be tempting.

Say we miss out on Wilkie and NO other key defender options come about would anyone be comfortable trading a first round selection for Jordan Butts? Or would you back in the boys there mainly O'donnell and Buss to dramatically improve?

We can trade up to 2027 picks now, so I think there will be ways for us to satisfy the other clubs if we need to.

A happy hypothetical trade week for us...(somebody has to go full BT, might as well be me...)

Buku for pick 35 (this might depend on what the Blues get for Curnow...if they get early picks they might be open to swaps because they have an early bid to match).

Marra, pick 10 and pick 28 (1781 points) for pick 6 (1659 points) and Budarick. Really this is a points trade, plus Marra for Budarick. Banking on Gold Coasts history of being horrible at the trade table continuing here...

Pick 6 and either 2026/27 future 2nd for Butters and 42.

Sanders OR either 2026/27 future 1st (hopefully 18) for Wilkie.

Ins - Budarick, pick 35, Butters, Pick 42, Wilkie
Outs - Buku, Marra, pick 10, pick 28, 2026/27 future 1st and 2nd

2025 draft hand - pick 35, pick 42
2026 draft hand - 3rd and 4th round picks - this is a concern with Levi West and El Souki available to us

I think most of these are a little optimistic, but like the intent.

Buku for 35 is fine, they might ask for something back but only like a future 4th or something, I'd hold out.

I like the GC trade, No idea how much Budarick is worth (I'd guess similiar to Buku), Marra is worth nothing and if we can get him off the books that is the real win.

Think Port would ask for three first rounders for Butters. Pick 6 maybe knocks down the price but I'd think they'd demand three picks averaging 15 or 2 top 10s. Pick 6 and both future 2nds maybe gets there, otherwise fro their pov they can keep him for another year and either be pretty good and sell staying to him or be pretty bad and get a compo pick around 6 in a better draft anyway.

I think Saints will ask for two first rounders averaging 15ish for Wilkie, pick 6 or Sanders might be enough to convince them though.

I don't think we can get both Wilkie and Butters, especially as both are contracted and unlikely to agitate proper for the move. This isn't like the Dunkley scenario where we can just trade out our best pick and then cobble together some random flotsam as our "best possible offer".

I'd hope we could do the following:

10 and future 2nd for Wilkie. They might want a little more, would be open to a pick in the 30s

Buku for 35.

Butts in for 28 (ours) and 35 (Carltons). Get a later pick back (49 I think?)

Budarick for a future third (or downgrade a future 2nd (2027) into a future 3rd).

Leaves us with 46 and 49 to use on Darcy.

Still have 2026 first rounder, targeting getting Butters as a FA 2026, but could use that to help trade for him if need be.

I don't think a fourth in line key defender is worth that at the table. Think two picks in the 25-40 range should suffice.
