You win some you lose more.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I'm not sure why we'd release Buku but bring in McGovern.

No harm in haggling, but I think 41 gets it done for Khamis. I know there was salary involved and was a different draft but we gave up Macrae for like 45 last year

Macrae was on big money and St Kilda took the entire hit on his salary for the final 2 years of his contract. Ditto Daniel (although we managed to extract pick 25 from North). Both those deals were very astute and needed to happen.

The benefit of getting 900k off the books this year with JUH is significant. With JUH, Macrae, Daniel and Smith, we have cleaned up large chunks of our total salary cap in the last 2 years, which we'll need for (hopefully) Butters and also reward the likes of Freijah coming through.

Unless we are trading Buku to West Coast I don't think we are getting 41 - Carlton already traded it to them for Chesser.

Staggering the differences in how some clubs are portrayed versus others. You should read the Jake Niale sook piece in The Age on Essendons behalf today….

Would anyone do Buku for Florent as part of a 3 way deal?

I do agree with all of the above, but one caveat I have is that we need to use the 'freed up cash' beyond just rewarding the likes of Freijah, or else we're realistically only ever treading water and repeating the cycle of one step forward, one step back. In another 4 years we'll be freeing up cash to trade player X while developing player Y.

If we land Butters, it's all worth it. But so far we do not have enough to show for clearing cap space via Dunkley, Macrae, Daniel, Smith and Jamarra.

I’m not sure he’s what we need, but I’d think about it for sure

Why are we considering releasing Khamis from his contract with no body coming in who can play similar roles? If we lose a tall forward, back or ruck for any length of time our options are going to be more limited than they were.

I am happy for us to not force incoming trades if they do not suit but diminishing our depth in these roles makes zero sense to me.

Here's a hypothetical off the back of the Merret situation.

How much or what would be the price for Bont?

There isn't anything that would appease me but if we had no choice, it's three picks in the top 10 (Same year) and a player who has finished in that teams top 10 B&F in the last few years.

I wish we never have to experience this.

Tend to agree, but there's 2 ways to look at this:

1/ selfishly we keep Buku as depth knowing he will likely only be called upon as bit of a last resort.
2/ we try and get Buku to a team who see him as a likely best 23 player... which isn't the case with us.

Buku is a well-respected member of the group who has given good service, but if he feels he wants to look to further his career I'm happy to assist him.
