Lever would be interesting in our backline. Not sure it would be the unlock we need, but it would be interesting.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

The other interesting player from Melbourne is Jake Lever. He was supposedly very pissed off about being dropped a couple of weeks ago and is now potentially gettable at the end of the season. Still only 29yo and is clearly a high quality defender. I'd be making enquiries, even with his highly punchable head.
Not for me. Lever is a mouth who searches out teammates for blame when things go wrong. He’s losing pace and is at risk of becoming a one trick pony.

Would throw big coin at Mcvee, he’s a stud and the type of defender we seriously lack.

Lever is an absolute no, honestly put Lever side by side with Buss in the same team & role currently and I seriously don’t think there’d be much difference between their output as of round 1 next year. Definitely not enough difference to swap Buss (who would certainly leave) for a 29yo injury prone version of him on big money.

Fritsch also would be a terrible fit for our side. Outside of the obvious out of reach guys(Kozzie, Windsor, Langford etc their good young players) the only guys I’d look at from Melbourne are Mcvee, Chandler, Rivers & Bowey.

Yep. We need someone to lock down and put the gorillas to sleep, and I'm not sure this is Lever's go. However, as a rebounding intercept key defender he walks into our team miles ahead of everyone else except Lobbovich. Not even his idiotic moustache can hide this fact.

Lever's a weirdo. That tantrum against Brissy in the 2023 finals was next level stange.

We just got rid of one freak I had to pretend to like...Lever is top 5 flogs in the comp.

You're only getting dropped from that Melbourne side if your football has dropped away significantly.

It's a no from me dawg.

Yeah Lever earnt that demotion, which seems to be being pretty widely overlooked. Let the Saints have him.

I'm on the opposite fence. We're desperate for that pure interceptor that can chop out the two KPDs.

I'm not sure Lever is still that guy, but right now we're playing Coffield in that role. If we can upgrade that part of the ground we become a better side.

I reckon Lever has struggled for some time now. Unless dirt cheap, I wouldn't have much interest.

Did I miss something on Fritsch? Is he considering options? Maybe not a need but I wouldn't dismiss it. We of all know he can play.

Fritsch is a good finisher. As much as his head is punchable, he'd be ok.

Not sure he's very defensive though.

Just speculation that Melbourne might look to reset their list and trade out some of their senior players.

It comes with the Herald Sun revealing the club will be open to some kind of list shake-up that could see them moving on senior names for trade collateral.

Melbourne’s senior players have some currency but it would be a big call to trade leaders like Jake Lever, Jack Viney and Steven May.

Lever will be 30 by round 1 next year but was dropped this year as he battles ankle concerns.

May will be 34 in January next year and has averaged 2.7 intercept marks a year but also had a poor year by his lofty standards.

Bayley Fritsch is contracted for next year and would have suitors but said earlier in the year he wanted to play out his career at Melbourne.

Clayton Oliver might have to take a $200,000 pay cut per year to be a trade prospect but even then the Demons might have to pay up to $500,000 of his salary for a club to take the rest of his $1 million wage off the books given a deal of up to $1.7m by 2030.

Well he was. This year he's kicked 19 goals from 44 shots at 43%.

Naughton who has copped a fair bit of criticism for his goal kicking over the journey has never had a season as bad as that and this season is 31 goals from 58 shots at 53%.

He's better than all of our defenders except Lobb. He's had a down patch this year, so the only determination is if this down patch is the start of a permanent decline or if it's the result of playing in a struggling team and possibly being sick and tired of his current environment/teammates. For mine, his many years of credits in the bank as an elite intercept key defender surpasses his 4-5 week patch of poor form this year, and at 29yo the risk would be well worth considering if he actually was gettable.

Fritsch is an all time low buy. This would be his worst season in a long long time.

Is it age related or Melbourne related?
More of an In Bruges guy?
