Surely we find out this week if he is keen to leave Port?

If he stays at Port, we should turn our attention to Jack Martin.
Would come cheaper than Chad, and has unlimited potential. He fits the bill for what we need too, and just coming into his prime.

      Hell........let's get BOTH of them

We are in a strong position, the fact that he hasn't rejected or ruled out anything yet is an indicator that he's looking for a move.
I still don't quite get why he is even considering moving given his club values him so highly but his cryptic tweet about explaining his story soon tells me he's leaning towards leaving.

Jack Martin would be a great addition and will be 24 soon. I don't think he's performed to his ability though which he needs to start doing or at least any club trading for him needs to be confident of fixing.

I reckon he doesn't like the game style that Hinkley uses. It's as simple as either the coach goes or Chad does and I can't see them moving Hinkley on yet (surely they would have done so already if they were planning on it) so maybe one of these situations are finally going to turn on our favour!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I wonder if Norfs attention shifts if Gaff does / has re-signed with the Wiggles. Surely Chad is smart enough to know they are uber reactive atm and our work through Jackson keeps the trade on track.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

                I'd rather be a club's first option than just a Plan B

Comment from Port: (via trade radio)

Davies on Wingard: We only need to know if Chad doesn't want to be with us next year. I understand the Bulldogs have expressed the greater interest though.

                  .....

So it looks like a choice of two. 1) Stay, even though he won't commit to them so far. 2) Move to the dogs who are the most serious.

I get the feel Port are the ones that are keen to trade more than the Chad. I wouldn't be given them more than pick 7 thats exactly what they are after.

Port Adelaide expects Wingard to stay at home

PORT Adelaide expects star forward/midfielder Chad Wingard to remain at the Power next year despite interest from the Western Bulldogs.

Wingard is contracted to the Power for 2019, but the Bulldogs have publicly confirmed they'd be keen to pursue the dual All Australian.

The Power's head of football Chris Davies said Wingard was a required player.

"Nothing's changed in regard to Chad, he's a contracted player for us in 2019," Davies told reporters on Monday.

"I saw (Bulldogs list manager) Sam Power's comments mentioning they have some interest.

"The reality is right now, nothing has compelled Chad to suggest he doesn't want to be at Port Adelaide as it stands.

"From our perspective, he's a Port Adelaide player in 2019."

Wingard has posted cryptic messages on social media suggesting he's unhappy in recent weeks, but Davies said he wasn't concerned.

"Contracts usurp all that type of stuff," Davies said.

"I don't think he's unhappy, I think he's pretty happy being close to his family in Murray Bridge in South Australia.

"We're progressing as if Chad is with us next year."

That pretty much puts the ball in Wingards court to respond.

It's almost word for word what Sam Power said about Adams. Reading from the same hymn book??

(Today) Port Adelaide chairman David Koch says he has “no issue” with Chad Wingard’s manager testing the star’s market value.

“All clubs -- including the Crows and most AFL clubs -- have players who are a year out from the end of their contract and they want to test the market,” Kochie told FIVEaa on Monday.

“Chad’s manager is testing the value of Chad and I have no issue with that at all.

“Yes, we would love one club players… but the players have such short spans of time to earn a really decent living in football. I don’t begrudge them at all for finding out what their market is.

“He is a player that will be playing for us in 2019, but it’s not slavery. If Chad or his manager comes and says, ‘Look, we’ve got an offer here that is too good to refuse, can we talk about it?’ of course we would, that’s the type of people we are.

“If it’s in the best interest of him and we think it’s in the best interests of the club, we’ll certainly consider it. That’s a duty we have to the players.”
