    Why aren't we into him!

I guess we see English as number 1 and Lobb as his foil.

Obviously contracts are only there to give some control for trading.

Should have got Soldo instead of Lobb.

                Geelong are absolutely cleaning up.

Win the flag, get pick 7, pick 25, Bruhn, and soon Bowes and Henry.

Big trade of picks between Brisbane and Geelong.

I think the Dunkley deal now has the scope to get done

Bloody hell, flag, Pick 7, and then three first round draftees in Bruhn, Henry & Bowes. Hard to compete with that.

Big pick swap in the works. Brisbane looks set to send pick 25 to Geelong in return for picks 38, 48, 55, a future second rounder and a future fourth.

And Bruhn, Bowes and Henry all selected Geel as club of choice…makes a difference.

Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022

I know it's been mentioned before but if Hunter was to request a trade we could do worse than offer Tom Phillips a one year deal to see if he can recapture his form. Mitchell is on a youth kick and some good players are being held back at the Hawks.

Tom Phillips has the “hunger and fire” to work his way back onto an AFL list after being delisted by Hawthorn.

The 26-year-old endured an injury-interrupted year in what was eventually his last season, managing just four appearances.

He dealt with ankle and knee injuries and revealed to AFL Trade Radio’s Trade Afternoons that he’s still on the mend.

But after 115 games across Collingwood and the Hawks, Phillips found it a cruel ending when he was not offered a new contract in early September.

“I think like anyone in that position, I was upset and disappointed of course and I think looking past on my seasons previous to that and this season alone, I wasn’t able to get the continuity and the runs on the board this year in playing consistent footy,” he stated.

“So that’s sort of upsetting to reflect on, but in saying that it gave me an opportunity to have a look at being more mentally resilient and looking at when you are injured and you can’t contribute on the field, it forces you to look how much more professional, how much more of a better athlete I can become.

“I think that’s put me in a really good frame of mind at the moment to attack the next period and still hungry for an opportunity, very much in that mindset at the moment.”

Phillips didn’t reveal any interest from other clubs but said his manager – Alex McDonald of Hemisphere Management – was investigating the possibility of a third team.

“I’ve left a lot of that stuff to Alex and the team, to me it’s what I can control, especially my body and my mind, it’s been a different challenge this year for sure and I’ve had to have a slightly different outlook and approach to not being able to play and perform on field,” he added.

Phillips said further: “it’s focusing on what I can control with my body at the moment to give myself the best opportunity with getting another opportunity, because the hunger and the fire is there.

“I’m really bullish about getting back to my best football, given the opportunity.”

I liked Philips when he was at Collingwood and I remember thinking Hawthorn has done well to get him. I have to admit I can't really remember him playing anywhere near as good at Hawthorn, which according to the above article suggests it's due to injuries.

I agree with you GVGjr that he'd be worth a gamble if Hunter goes considering he passes a medical though.

I'd love to have a crack at Whitfield for a wing but I think the money he's on is one issue and convincing him to play for the bitter rivals is another. But then again look at Isaac Smith in Geelong colours! That turned out alright for him.
They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

Whitfield would be on Bontempelli money - GWS would want to kick in a lot.
TBH I'd rather Phillips on base salary or Scott on close to it on the wing, then spend the cap elsewhere.

Same here, Whitfield is a very good player but his performances aren't meeting his massive contract. We can find value elsewhere.
