Re: Early Trade Rumours for 2022

Brisbane's Tom Berry to Suns has been done for 25 and 36. The Suns get Berry, the ontraded GWS future 2nd and 46. Lions get two picks for good points this year.

So now the Lions can't even trade out of the first round next season since the rest of their future picks will have to remain untouched.

That's very handy for Brisbane. Gunston will be for not much too.

        21, 25, 34, 35, 46

        878, 756, 542, 522, 331 = 3,029 Draft Points

If they split Pick 21 they have enough draft points for Ashcroft & Fletcher.

So now having traded out the extra second, to my understanding they can only offer the Future First (they need to hold the latter picks - one or the others get traded, but not both).

So the question is, what are Brisbane adding to 2023 First Rounder to secure a huge 'trade week victory'?

I mean look I guess we just have to keep Dunkley. I know it's not what we wanted but he's a good footballer it's not so bad.

As I understand the rules. You have a choice. Trade out your first rounder and have in tact 2, 3 and 4 rounders. Or keep your first, and trade any of the others. They still hold 2, 3 and 4 rounders. So they can offer up their Future First. But what are they adding?

It has to be a decent player. No other solution from here.

Geez wouldn't it be ultra weird if Brisbane can't come up with the picks and Dunkley doesn't want to go to North so he signs with us again?

I don't see how they can get it done. They'll need a pretty darn good player attached to the 1st next season which won't be high at all. I fail to see after the posturing we've done we'd take a measly pick next year and some guy that can't get a game.

I agree. They add a good player to it (or a good player to another club for a good pick ontraded to us), or it blows up. Simple from here now.

BT, I think you will find #46 is heading to the Suns. There is still some work to do.

Yeah this week is turning into a shit sandwich for us, crap deal for Dunkley and missing out on Lobb.

                      Hopefully Jones isn't a crock.

Can lions give us GWS future 2nd round plus Lions future 1st?

I think Sam P rightly will say that’s not enough. We also need to prise out a good Lions’ player that we want as well.

Insert Rhys Mathieson and Mitch Robinson.

Seriously I do have faith in Power but I can't see us squeezing a thing out of the Lions. We'll be stuck with some bum that can't get a game and a 1st in 2023 and maybe a 2nd in this draft if they can afford it.

So they've effectively traded 15 for 21 and 25? It's hard not to feel like it's a bit of a slap in the face to our trade negotiations, but we do have to wait - haven't heard much spoken about the actual dealing that's happening.

                              Yep.

2,698. Less 2,400 for Ashcroft = 298 Draft Points Remain

If they split 21 and 25 for an average of 175 draft points on average for both = 648 Draft Points (equal to about Pick 22)

If Fletcher is more around Pick 15. They're 242 Draft Points short. Even if they don't bridge that fully, it's a relatively small deficit next year. Pushes their second rounder into the third round.

(I'm not calculating their Pick 73 which has 9 DP's)

Stay positive Chef, I have a lot of faith that we will do OK out of this.
I have no reason not to back Power in this.
