Re: North Melbourne
Get your point, I can't agree though.
May 1940, England are last man standing. Hitler who admired them wanted to broker a deal.
Any other prime minister may just have done that.
Without Churchill we might just be having sauerkraut with our cornflakes!
I mean at this point Stalin was on Hitler's side and was more than happy to divide up Poland and destroy a sovereign nation, then wipe out all of their best people (22000 of them) by rounding them up and murdering them in a forest. He signed the order.
(He only changed sides because he had to, and they only survived due to the Nazis being delayed)
Battle of Britain ensues, they hold off the Luftwaffe and that year it took for Barbarossa to happen was critical and kept a two front war as a concept the Germans had to be planning for.
Churchill is no saint, Stalin is just pure evil.
If you haven't read about collectivisation, holodomor and the great terror it's worth doing so.
Back to Norf xD
There are no national leaders really worth admiring (with very few exceptions like maybe Mandela) they all do horrible things if they have real power.Last edited by hujsh; 22-02-2024, 09:05 AM.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment

Re: North Melbourne
Agree, They've spent all of their currency that the AFL gave them and now have really a number of exciting mids and flankers but I do think they missed in a big way by not selecting Dan Curtin because they do lack in taller defenders.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: North Melbourne
Caught a bit of of North v Collingwood and North are making some progress in their long awaited rebuild. McKercher looks the goods and Sheezal was brilliant. Wardlaw is an excellent midfielder as well. I don't know that they will climb the ladder but they should be more competitive.
In all seriousness thank you.More of an In Bruges guy?Comment

Re: North Melbourne
I think they will start to show a little more this year and rise a few rungs but still young, I think of them at our 2014 stage, been through the worst of a complete rebuild .Bring back the biffComment

AFL hits Tarryn Thomas with 18-match ban for inappropriate behaviour
North Melbourne?s Tarryn Thomas will miss 18 matches after an AFL investigation found he behaved inappropriately towards a woman, putting his career at the Kangaroos in extreme jeopardy.
The suspension, which ends on July 22, will rule him out of the Kangaroos? community cup match and their first 18 premiership matches, as they have a bye in round 12, and he will not be allowed to play football at any level during the period of his ban.
The Age has confirmed the league?s decision, which Nine?s Tom Morris first reported on Tuesday, from two sources familiar with the situation who were not authorised to talk.
The 23-year-old has not trained with North Melbourne since January 17 when the investigation that has put his career at risk became public.
The league?s integrity unit spoke to Thomas at AFL headquarters on January 29.
His representatives are understood to have fought the length of the ban with Thomas? contract due to expire at the end of 2024.
The AFL is expected to release the details of the ban on Thursday afternoon. North Melbourne are expected to consider the details of Thomas?s behaviour provided by the AFL before deciding on his career, but he is at long odds to remain with the Kangaroos beyond this season.FFC: Established 1883

A shame he couldn’t pull his head in. So much talent, but clearly that’s not enough.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment
