      Sam Blease has a nom and Libba goes without.

      AFL = epic fail.

              Re: 2011 - NAB Rising Star

              As a late rookie pick from 2010, Dahl is the biggest steal of all the names on that list.

                  If it motivates either of them over the summer it could be a good thing

                  However, Jones along with Darling and Reid has been the most impressive of the key position players

                  And Libba just flies under the radar releasing the ball out to others

                    Not from a high profile club, and hasn't played a full year. I don't think he's in the running at all.

                    I'd expect that starting from the rookie list this year, he'd be over the moon to be considered part of our best 22 and probably doesn't give two shits about personal recognition.

                      Do you think Jones deserves a nomination? He has grabbed a lot of contested marks and kicked the odd goal but I think others are ahead of him for a nomination.

                          Jones is averaging less than 10 disposals a game.

                          Libba should be in there, as you mentioned. Others like Dion Prestia (GC) have had some good games, as well as Ben Jacobs from Port, but unfortunately their teams haven't won too many games so they are overlooked.

                            And?

                            Boyd had 36 disposals on Saturday, Jones had 14 - who was more effective?

                            Sam Reid who everyone is going 'ga-ga' over averages just 0.8 a disposal per game more than Jones over the course of the season, but Liam leads him marks (only just) and is much higher up the ranking in contested marks.... I guess Liam hasn't had that one 3 or 4 goal game which would tip him over, but Shifter would probably miss that one anyway.

                            Anyway like the rest of the awards handed out all the flogs who judge them look at are stats which are becoming more and more irrelevant by the day.

                            If Matera is there, Prestia should be too.

                            Jacobs has had a couple of decent games, but I wouldn't have thought he has done enough.

                              Well hopefully Libba has a good last game and is given a nomination. I know the award is flawed, but it would be nice for him to be recognized.

                                Jack Darling is another who the media is drooling over, he averages 2.5 possessions more per game and has kicked a whopping 2 more goals for the season, in a team that'll finish top 4. Some people are even talking about him winning it.
