Some of the bullet points for today.
Accurate goal kicking was a pleasant surprise and made for a higher quality game.
Richards, Bontempelli, Darcy and Liberatore were the better performers
Freijah played across half back so I'd say we have settled him there. Sanders was really strong in the midfield and kicked the first goal.
Croft played a fair bit on the wing and to be honest I don't think it suits him
McNeil and West kicked 2 goals each and should be locks for the best 25 considerations.
Davidson was the pick of the pups as a winger, He moves well and and has some excellent defensive attributes.
Gardner was mainly pitted against English and does okay in the role. Busslinger was the FB, JOD CHB
Arty was on a wing and I think it suits him
Hynes kicked a goal and did well. Jaques was used as a forward and while I don't think it's his best spot he knows how to read the play.

Even though we're crying out for wingers, Freijah just seems like a lock at HB, his ball use and decision making will be awesome back there.

I'd love to see Arty get more games, his energy and skill level are great, he just needs to find a way to impact more consistently.

Arty has to earn his way on but he does have those winger traits of pace and skills most teams would want.
It could all change with the next session but it does look like we are going to settle in Freijah as a defender. By the way, he must be 192/193cm tall now.

Looks like he trains really hard to improve as well.

Arty has good pace - exactly what we need

I have to admit, a pre-season matched up against Ryan Gardner isn't the best prep for English and helping him work on his deficiencies as a ruck. Will be like coming up against a freight train when he cops Xerri in round 1...

We don't have a lot of other options unfortunately. We have to make do with what we have.

You said Croft ran through the wing today, do we think he's gonna be a Blicavs type swingman, or will the Dogs try and set him up at one end permanently?
                  Fair question that

Excellent height. Taller than Weddle who they tout as a key back at Hawthorn (though they play him all over the place.) Maybe not quite as quick as Weddle but Freijah would outrun him.

6 players rotated on the wing including Croft.
Goal kicking accuracy was pretty good.
Freijah on a back flank, Sanders very good right in the middle and kicked the first goal.

                      I'll add some more later.
Good news on Darcy. Hope it is not a sign of a drop off with Liam.

Anyone have any thoughts on how Davidson measures up compared to Harvey Gallagher?

Our wings are bad and every year we're sold on a new young winger. Is Davidson just this years version, or a bit more about him?

We haven't seen much of Gallagher as he has pretty much been with the managed group for all of the preseason.
I'm not sure how to compare them but I do think they have some claims for a spot with us on the wing
Based on what we have seen so far, Poulter is being remodeled as a forward (and it's working very well) and Baker hasn't spent much time on the wing.
That means the field is narrowing a bit for potential wingers. I'd say Williams and one of either Davidson, Gallagher or Arty are the current front runners.
