I sat here and wrote a piece about " give credit where its due " and wrote Gardner deserves his chance , ok having said that let me say this .
Enough is enough , if thats the best he can do , if thats how he handles pressure , then im sorry but he should not ever, come back into our senior side period.

NB . Just an observation , looking at the player stats and METERS gained , McNeil -3 meters gained , how on earth can you do that? , have 4 disposals and have -3 meters gained, im baffled , has to be a miss print dosnt it ?. Or was everything he did backwards? .

One kick went backwards with his kick to Gardner (recorded -35 metres) which resulted in a turnover goal.

I wonder how the transition goes from VFL to AFL for players that at not that gifted. Gardner had a shocker but his form in the VFL was good enough to get the recall but the time and space moving up a level was too much to for him to adjust to.
If he had a run of 5 to 6 games, he could settle into the side a play a role the trouble is we don't have the luxury to do that so we need to weed out the players that can't adjust quickly and move them on.
I see that some posters have listed Dolan getting dropped but I think he played reasonably well. He has some speed and is fairly clean and sometimes I see he makes good position but is overlooked he is worth persevering with.
I was disappointing the Sellwood didn't get a run it would have been interesting to see how he went as I'm not sold on Bramble or Cleary even though the later has been reasonable and has improved from last year but for me, he takes too long to make a decision, and the better options get covered.
Everything moves from half back this year and at the moment that appears to be our week spot when under strong pressure we need players that can think and move quickly and be able to execute.

Half back is critical. With Treloar back in, Freijah returns there and will be a welcome sight in partnership with Dale and JJ. Those three can run, carry and penetrate with speed.

I’m with Cmac1297 on this one. I think we need the 3 talls up forward if the line is to function properly. Three talls means oppo defenders will find it more difficult to double team Naughton or Darcy.

My doubt on Cmac’s team is Bramble. Too many clangers for me that directly lead to oppo scores. I’d have Freijah in defence and Davidson on the wing. Sub maybe Baker or Poulter.

Earlier I had proposed Coffield but after watching the VFL yesterday I’ve totally gone off that idea. Way too slow.

Half back is critical. With Treloar back in, Freijah returns there and will be a welcome sight in partnership with Dale and JJ. Those three can run, carry and penetrate with speed.

I agree with Joel going back as he has struggled being further up the ground of late. Dale can do what dale does, but I don't know about JJ. The soft tissue injuries he's been getting I think has cost him that explosive speed he once had but if he can stay on the park, he is a better option than Bramble and Cleary.
