If it was just a 1-3 week thing then sure make do with the makeshift fwd line. But we have to think this is a long term thing now and make a move with an eye on the rest of the season. Also hopefully if Buss comes on it lessens our reliance on Lobb/Jones down back going forward too when Darc is back.

but yeah doesn’t sound like Bevo will go that way, although I’m reluctant to take him at his word at this stage, I think he’d like the idea of keeping it under wraps this week and not allowing GWS to plan for what we do. Would not surprise me in the slightest if Lobb trains back all week and then at the first bounce is lined up at CHF - Bevo will love the funny buggers he has up his sleeve to at least get one little upper hand in week 1 of FWOD (football without Darcy )
I’m all in on Lobb going forward… with Darcy, Jamarra and Weightman missing for most of/ potentially all of the year we really lack potency ahead of the ball.

Time to back in the likes of JOD, Buss and Khamis to step up as defenders, put trust in our mids to win the territory battle and go chips in up forward.

      Time to make a stand.

Agreed, that’s literally 120+ goals missing now - you’re just not making that up with Bukus & Poulters & Gardners.

It will be nice to have Lobb back as a scoring option from 55-60 too, we’ve lacked that - having a tall that can consistently kick them from 60 really stretches the defence in the modern game. You know with Naughty and Darcy they don’t have it in them so you don’t have to set up for it

Id play him CHF let him get up the ground and put Naughty back to where he really started his career as the main guy inside 50, been a few years for him might just get his best out of him again having a forward line to himself

I think I am pro Lobb forward, for time at least anyway. If we don't do that, we need to go smaller I think.

I hear the argument of having JOD as a tall defensive forward. I don't mind him doing it alongside Naughts but having Buku there too makes a really easy target for a side like GWS in particular. Buku and JOD are going to need put in the air to have an impact, which suits Taylor and co. Thing is, I think smaller guys can do the def fwd role as you don't want to bomb it anyway. Someone like Westy is actually dangerous in ability to impact scoreboard.

Having both Buku and JOD forward for the majority is just a disaster waiting to happen. One yes, both in a pinch hitting manner at times sure but their inability to be dangerous tall options means they will be very easily exploited.

I’m hearing it may be a bit of a wet game in Canberra, if that is the case it’ll be important that the Dogs don’t go too tall

I was pushing for Lobb to go forward after Darcy went down but rewatching the game, after Bevo sent Lobb forward , he looked like a fish out of water , looked uncertain where to run and played like a guy playing with no confidence , after looking so assured with the ball in front of him in the back line , so iv changed my mind ,( dont rob peter to pay paul ), keep Lobb right where his been killing it , the back line .

I get alot of people are pushing for a Buss debut , but if the weather report is right i kinda think we are setting him up to fail , his strength is intercept marking , and i dunno how effective he will be if its wet and the ball will be on the ground more times then not , i know a footballer has to play in all conditions , but maybe just maybe give him his best chance to succeed and play his 1st game on a dry track , he may fail that as well but give him a real chace to get some confidence .

It's not pushing, I'm just noting what others are reporting.

azabob , if we were comming into our 1st game and concidering Gardners preseason id agree with you , but his only player what 3 or 4 games this year and non of them have been the standard you expect from a guy of his seniority , the same old mistakes are still prevalent in his game , and thoes mistakes become goals against in the senior side .

Good shit. Hope he goes better than the last key defender we debuted against GWS in Canberra.
