Deep Heat Medical Room: Round 2
James O’Donnell is a chance to feature in the Club’s 100-year marquee this Friday.
Footscray defender James O’Donnell is a chance to feature in the Club’s 100-year marquee fixture at the MCG this Friday night.
O’Donnell was subbed out of the Dogs’ Round 1 win after suffering a jaw injury late in the third quarter and will be tested this week.
“James received some incidental contact to his jaw from an opponent’s shoulder,” Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said.
“This caused a small crack in his jawbone, which required surgery where a metal plate was put in to stabilise the crack.
“The surgery was completed yesterday, and he has bounced out well and is already chomping at the bit to get back into training.
“We will reassess where he is at on Wednesday, before confirming when he will return to playing.”
Luke Cleary has been placed under concussion protocols after a late collision, while Riley Garcia will undergo surgery after an incident in the VFL practice match.
“Late in the fourth quarter, Luke was involved in a traumatic clash where he received an opposition knee to the side of his head,” Bell said.
“Luke was concussed as part of this incident. He did go to hospital after the game for precautionary scans and was monitored throughout Saturday night.
“In some good news, the scans have cleared Luke of any serious structural damage. He was back at the club today and will be managed within our concussion protocols.
“In the last two minutes of our VFL practice game, Riley was involved in a tackle where he twisted his knee. This mechanism has caused some damage to the cartilage in Riley’s knee.
“Unfortunately this injury requires surgery to remove the cartilage fragment.
“The surgery is being completed this afternoon, so we will have an updated return-to-play timeline in the coming days.”

Dogs are doing a great job with Trelor.
It is too easy and happens too often when a player like Trelor has completed rehab and returns to play too soon.
Even without further injury, their form is down, and once you return to play, most of your time is spent recovering; it is impossible to re-capture form.
Then "footy experts" just focus on how he is not the same player anymore, etc. etc.
Taking the time to do his pre-season is critical.👍 2Comment

Jones with 1 to 3 weeks sounds promising. Bont was training yesterday, so hopefully it is not another 4 to 6 weeks. Poor Scott can't take a trickFFC: Established 1883

Deep Heat Medical Room: Round 3
Liam Jones and James O’Donnell remain likely inclusions ahead of Friday's clash with Carlton.
By Western Bulldogs Media
Bulldogs defenders Liam Jones and James O’Donnell remain likely inclusions ahead of a Friday night clash with Carlton at Marvel Stadium.
The pair will be required to train in full on Wednesday before being deemed available for senior selection.
“Liam Jones has progressed well following his hamstring injury earlier this year,” Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell said.
“He completed a game-like training simulation session on Friday and has pulled up really well.
“If he gets through training this week like I expect, he will return to availability.
“James has recovered well following the operation that he had on his fractured jaw.
“We opted for the conservative decision on the weekend and he didn’t play, but we are optimistic that James will be putting his hand up for selection for this weekend.”
Midfielder Adam Treloar has suffered a calf setback over the weekend and will spend more time on the sidelines.
“Adam has been building the continuity in his training across the last six weeks following an injury interrupted December and January period,” Bell said.
“Unfortunately, Adam has suffered some calf symptoms following Friday’s training session.”
“This will delay his return-to-play plan, with the Club to confirm his new timeline in coming days.” Injury List: Round 3

Geez that’s a shame for Treloar and a big concern, years almost turning into a write off considering he won’t have trained basically at all since November.
Real worry for the rest of his career too to be getting these persistent calf issues at this age. Feel for the guy, such a professional and finally got that AA jumper with almost a best career year and then this? Just sucks.
Were doing the right thing in rebuilding the midfield with Richards, Freijah & Sanders, even when Bont comes back we need to keep getting midfield time into these guys.👍 1Comment

That sucks about Treloar. Seemed like he was making good progress. Also shame about Garcia. What exactly did he do? Knee injury I see but what kind?Comment
