Always Right Match Committee R6 vs St Kilda 2025

Welcome to the Always Right Match Committee Thread. The Match Committee threads has been named after long time WOOF member Always Right who tragically passed away in March 2018.

If you were on the Western Bulldogs match committee, what changes would you make after our Round Six match against St Kilda on Easter Sunday evening.

For those new to these threads, please give a brief explanation for your changes ... this would add a lot of value to the discussion.

I don’t think we can continue to play Hynes and Dolan together at the moment. One or the other.

Hynes 3 possessions in a full game while not ideal. For his confidence and long term benefit he needs another game.
Clarke last year had 6 and a point in a half and was subbed after some tough contests also. Yes he done a few bad kicks but at least he was getting in there. I believe getting subbed and dropped destroyed his confidence. I have a friend who’s welfare at another club and it’s pretty much mandatory that debutants will get minimum 2 games. Hopefully we do this for Hynes. Dolan has been given a good run and today he finally got a goal and continues to improve each week.

I’m all promoting youngsters but I like winning to. It’s like playing with 17 atm with 2 it’s 16.

You can add O’Donnell and numerous others after half time.
No doubting JJ was poor yesterday, the difference is we needed his experience in a young side.
It’s now or never again with JJ and he wasn't the one injured in the first 3 minutes.

Jason Johannisen will be interesting to see if he can regain some of his explosiveness. I felt he was keeping it simple yesterday and lacked confidence in his running which I suppose is understandable after such a long layoff.
I think he is one injury from retirement and at the best is playing his last season.

He wasn't injured but with his impact on the game (across all four quarters), he might as well have been.

He certainly wasn't the only player who struggled, but he was the only one brought in with no match practice under his belt. What we saw yesterday was almost the best case scenario, and I'm not convinced his leadership/experience helped us at all.

Players under consideration to be dropped due to performance are Hynes, Dolan, JJ, Harmes (inj).

We may have to suck it up and keep playing JJ.

Our back half is screaming out for run and carry with top end skills especially when Dale is tagged out of the game.

Lobb, Jones, Khamis are at best 15m chip kickers, Bramble and Cleary are good kicks but when the pressure is on are prone to errors.

Removing Richards and now Freijah from our HB line is messing with potentially the most important area of the ground.

Hang on. A professional young athlete getting subbed destroys his confidence? Are we really drafting such mentally weak young men?

Are our coaching staff so inept to not be able to coach the reasons why in a manner that wants to make a player better?

I never understand this comment about young players.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I think we need to move O’Donnell back because Jones looks older every game. Khamis is the one that would make room. Try him up forward? I thought we missed VDM yesterday, best of not much really.
