“It is out of my control." - Is it really Jamarra? It's a choice to be at a questionable venue like that, with those associates, at 2am on a Sunday morning. He also doesn't seem to grasp that he's involved simply by being present and in that situation.

Witnessing a shooting might actually jolt him with a moment of clarity where he realises this (late night shady venues) isn’t the world for him.

      Doubt it though

The bloke says he wants to play AFL level footy, the Club offers him a spot. It transpires that he isn't prepared to put in on that basis.

            Wow! That article is embarrassing.

Common theme with him though. Zero awareness. From his first season thinking he should be playing despite struggling to run out a quarter. To then thinking he can play in an exhibition match for the indigenous team without attending club training. The podcast interview admitting he's unsure why he isn't playing. To now these quotes.

            Flat out embarrassing.

Who is going to bed on a Saturday night when all of your mates are out at the age of 23 before 3am? Come on, nobody is sober or otherwise and nobody who isn't recovering from a game of footy or playing one the next day is staying at home.

The wowsering about a 23 year old being out at that time of night is ridiculous. What's the difference to his physical conditioning between sitting in a race sim at home vs. punching some air at a nightclub? Honestly, I'd much rather my gun 23 year old was moving around on his feet rather than sitting prone playing games.

However, a good mate of mine used to DJ at Love Machine almost twenty years ago and it was the only club he ever told me not to **** up at. I had access to all the secret rooms/toilets, it was great, but the key message was always don't **** up.........they don't play nice at that joint.

              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Enough is enough, move him on and wish him well. How many players would give their left one for $900k, don't need to play, do whatever you want whenever you want we etc. No ty the time has come, the excuses have run out and so has our patience and goodwill. Go elsewhere wish you good luck win 3 brownlows and 4 premierships we simply don't care anymore.

100%. No more, no less. This is the heart of the issue.

I was more talking about if you are in full training. Agree, you're young, get out and enjoy - but go to the right places, not the Love Machine or other dodgy places.

I agree but I don't think the same rules apply when you're trying to win back the trust of your club (hell the entire league) like your career and future depends on it. There's a tighter leash.

The last few months have been a fork in the road for him. He's got choices. I don't think he's choosing wisely.

There's a disparity between his claimed mental health issues and grieving processes, and being out on the town with questionable (from an outsider's point of view) company, at questionable locations. I suppose we all cope in different ways so maybe it's a distraction for him. It also jars with his claim to want to play football but doesn't go to training. He's obviously attracting way too much attention but paints himself as a victim, rather than accepting that he could be making better choices. I just don't think he really wants to. There doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

1 He is going to the wrong places
2 if he wants to play AFL prove it turn up to the club like the other senior players and watch the women . He was actually in a team photo with the women but then didn’t turn up for their first game.
3 He is paid big bucks and with that comes selling your time and doing whatever the club wants you to do .
4 I can’t tell you now back in the 80s Mick Malthouse would ring players at home to make sure they were home , that’s when they were part time players and had other jobs . It’s got a lot more tighter than 40 years ago .
5 this is the sacrifice you make when you become an AFL footballer you are representing your club no matter where you are .
He says he wants to play AFL still is told what to do to play and then does this stuff , it’s where he is and who he is with is the problem .
6 yes go out and party but do it with some brains , your in the shit already just keep yourself under the radar and behave , hang out at the club with teamates build friendships develop good relationships .
Going to the most dangerous nightclub isnt a good thing .
Clearly there is no forward thinking with him .

Ehh nah, I’m usually the first to wave this sort of thing off. As you mentioned this is what 23yos do - I’m only late 20s so I’m not that far out of that phase myself and I’m under no illusions as to what footy players get up to on the weekends - I couldn’t care less for the most part as long as they’re performing on field. He is not.

the problem here is that it’s not an isolated incident. It’s another in a long line of **** ups. The fact is he should be playing VFL the following day but he’s not because he can’t even commit to training consistently at AFL level. If this was a single, isolated incident then by all means it’s a beat up but it’s clear the ball still hasn’t dropped yet for him.

Love machine is notoriously a bikie ran club too. It’s a tough one, it’s not as simple as saying he should be cutting all communication with his mates, realistically we have no idea what these guys are like and they are his mates. For all we know they’re good, hardworking blokes. Just because they have face tats doesn’t mean they’re bad influences haha. But at the end of the day he’s NOT turning up to training and meeting the expectations of his role, whatever the reason I don’t really care anymore. Enoughs enough. If you can’t train & play you can stop putting the hand out for your pay cheque as far as I’m concerned at this point.

nothings changing for him, and considering his struggles and the fact he’s recently out of a rehab type place; maybe he was just out socialising harmlessly in a club. Maybe, but I’d suggest it seems unlikely knowing his past… if he wants to win back his trust he should be at the footy early the next day with his teammates, whether he’s playing or not is irrelevant
