You're giving me the Choco Williams.
I know he's purportedly a dog's fan but he's about 3 percent dogs and 97 percent cats (100 percent flog).

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
Haven't read the article but apparently our ask is a top ten pick (HS paywall)
https://t.co/7DT1dFl823
Us: Top 10 Pick (original demand and have not budged)
Them: Pick 17

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
My guess:
Their F1 just has to come into it to break the stalemate.
(Essendon are selling Pick 9 after all if the Cats can/want buy it… laterally, Geelong’s 17 & F1 together with our 35 & 48 would be a huge return for Essendon. Slide back 8 spots, get points for Kako and a F1. Then on-sell 17 for maybe a F1 too. Then it’s Two F1, a second rounder and a third rounder while securing Kako. Kako a Top 10 and three first rounders next year!)Last edited by bulldogtragic; 12-10-2024, 08:12 PM.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
Scott Gullan reports
The Western Bulldogs want a pick inside the top 10 of November’s super draft from Geelong in exchange for Bailey Smith.
As Wednesday night’s AFL trade deadline draws closer, the Dogs are yet to budge on their demands which is out of reach for the Cats who have offered their first pick (currently No.17) for the out-of-contract midfield star.
The Cats are adamant their offer is reasonable for Smith, 23, who hasn’t played for 12 months because of a knee reconstruction and has made it clear he wants out from Whitten Oval.
Should the Dogs continue to hold firm, Smith’s management is confident he can get to the Cats through the national draft. That would leave the Bulldogs with nothing.
The only trade of a pick inside the top 10 for a player is likely to be Gold Coast handing over No.6 for Richmond’s best-and-fairest winner Daniel Rioli.
Collingwood premiership player Luke Ball famously went through the draft 15 years ago to get to the Magpies after St Kilda refused to do a deal.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
Not sure how Geelong can get a top 10 pick for Baz, they have pick 17 so that's a starting point, most scribes from what I've listened to believe he's closer to a top 10 pick so then pick 17 and their 2nd rounder? it's supposed to be a strong deep draft so we can either keep those picks or try and use 17 and maybe our second rounder next year for GC's pick 12?
We don't want to be shafted but at the same time we need to know what they have and work a deal to satisfy us with what they have.Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
He was a pick 7, I mean that was a handy draft too!
As much as the footy media circle jerk wants to downplay it - he's worth way more than a pick in the 20s.
Why is his manager saying he will get to them via the draft?
He should not be involved in that in any way.Last edited by Grantysghost; 12-10-2024, 08:48 PM.BT COME BACK!

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
And what if they don't? We see clubs quite often with a first round pick then split it to really piss off the club wanting that for their player, let's say for instance they had pick 9, and we wanted it but they go and split it and offer us one of what they got back, all hypothetical off course but in reality, they don't have to find us a top 10 pick and Geelong being Geelong especially Mackie, that's probably not going to happen.Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
Yeah that's where i say go hard at gaining their first two picks this year in a deep draft and back ourselves in to hopefully end up with two players with those picks of Friejah qualities and not so much Charlie Clarke qualities plus whatever other selections we have, try and nail all our pick 17 which will end up like an early 2nd rounder anyway, our 2nd and 3rd round picks especially.Comment
