Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
IMO Cats will get him to go an inflated amount year one and a very inflated amount year two. Then when they drafted him, extend the contract. In a years time, renegotiate the second year to even out costs, defending it to the AFL that it could not forecast changes to TPP a year ahead. Of course the AFL will accept.Comment

Send him to the draft. It will be funny. I promise I won’t be mad or bring it up later.- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
The Cats first rounder is going to blow out to pick 23 or thereabouts, nobody in their right mind thinks that is fair value for Bailey Smith.
The report is that the cats weren't going to entertain a trade for him. That's not necessarily SDK saying he doesn't want to leave, that's the Cats saying that they don't want to give up any of their toys.Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
if we are getting to that point, why not just negotiate a trade with hawthorn/whoever now? Why give ANYONE the leg up of Bailey Smith for free?
Also, can you IMAGINE their Hokball/Bazlenka content on social media. I just vomited thinking about it.Comment

@al_superfooty
If Cats try to walk Bailey Smith through the draft why wouldn’t Saints grab him with pick 7 or 8? Two clubs can play hard!

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
Barrett and others seemingly 100% sure nobody will take Baz in the National Draft before Geelong. What a pointless system.
I hope he gets booed mercilessly on every disposal for the rest of his career by Dogs fans.Comment

At the moment many in the media are towing the line for the more privileged clubs.
The Cats have a heap of options available to them if they want to get this done nice and early.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

From AFL.com
BAILEY SMITH
There have been talks between Geelong and the Western Bulldogs on how this deal gets done, but there is still a gap between the parties with three days to run in the trade period. The Cats have tabled their first-round pick this year – No.17 – but the Bulldogs are keen for more to add to it, or for the pick to be shifted up the board. If an impasse can't be broken, given Smith's out of contract status, he could have to wait until the national or pre-season draft to get to the Cats. That is still seen as a long shot, though, with all parties preferring to get a deal done.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Welcome to the Bulldogs: Bailey Smith
I disagree.
If Baylee Smish has to go through to the draft, even if Geelong take him, it’ll show future players that Geelong target that maybe they can’t get it done. It hurts their reputation and future planning. Maybe that’s not worth a lot but it’s worth something. I think they’ll offer a future something.Comment
