    Baker and Coffield extend contracts

The pair have signed one-year contract extensions with the Club.

Western Bulldogs pair Oskar Baker and Nick Coffield have both signed one-year contract extensions, ensuring they will remain at Mission Whitten Oval into the 2026 season.

Baker has extended his time at the Kennel into a fourth season having crossed from Melbourne in 2023.

The utility has played 33 games in a variety of roles at the Dogs, averaging 15 touches and five marks a game.

Coffield joined the Bulldogs in 2024 via a trade from St Kilda, playing 12 AFL games across two seasons and notably featuring in the successful Footscray VFL Premiership campaign this year.

The former No.8 pick averaged 13 touches and seven marks during his stints in the AFL team in 2025.

“We’re really pleased to retain both Nick and Oskar for 2026, with the duo having plenty to offer the Club moving forward,” said Sam Power, Executive Manager Men’s Football.

“Oskar had a terrific end to the 2025 season, coming back into the AFL side and making an impact as a wingman with his speed and ability to break the lines.

“Nick built some continuity in his game over the back half of 2025 and has shown some promising attributes in defence.”

I am happy with both of those. Baker was playing well and would love to see Coffield have a really good run without injuries. I just think he needs more confidence in his body and himself. We lose nothing by giving him one more year.

Coffield? Why? I'd rather Barry Standfield come out of retirement and suit up.

It’s 4 senior spots Currently. I’m not sure why JOD wasn’t taken of the rookie list
              BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

JOD needs to be promoted to the senior list as he has played 3 seasons as a Rookie - so he will take up one of the 4

Yeah im not fazed about retaining both thoes guys , as has been stated Baker finished the year in good touch , hopefully he can build on that and have a real tilt at becoming a regular in the senior side , we definatly need his pace and hard running .
Coffield was to me real border line if he went or stayed , obviously the medical team think his knee will hold up to another year , so really all he needs is to get confidence in his body and continuity , and he can become good depth , at his best he is a fine footballer , his aim will be to reach that standard , he does lack pace but i think if the confidence in his body comes back he maybe a handy member of our side .

Thanks, For some reason they only seem to report the contract length for the big deals like Petracca, Curnow, etc. Even for guys like Lobb and Kennedy in the past it's been guesswork. I don't know why they can't say we have completed a trade for Player A who has signed a 3 year contract.

Doesn't grab the headlines if it's a standard type of contract length but I do agree as its just as important.
