I couldn't sleep last night I was so angry. I was angry Thursday when I looked at the squad but still had some small hope that our coach knew what they were doing. It's a time when you hope and pray you're wrong and it hurts to be right. The loss is on him.

Restless nights sleep but I'm now on board with how we can get a win in week one of the finals.
I still believe there is a switch than can be flipped. We are good enough and just need to find the right formula.

I woke up from a nightmare that in a critical game for our top 4 chances (and overall credibility as a side) we had our best player not on the ball for the most important stoppages of the game, a maligned key defender rucking most of the night and dropped a 15 point lead with 10 minutes to go to most likely break a 45 year record for a team sitting on top to lose 3 on the trot and drop out of the top 4.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Our nightmare has been going for about three weeks.

I can’t go back and watch, but gee, there are a few frustrating moments in the last few mins where we could have turned it and won.

The key difference was they had leaders step up at important moments and be counted. After missing countless opportunities for the first 90 minutes, Wines, Boak and Gray stepped up when it counted. We didn’t have anywhere near enough winners across the ground and despite some improvements in this area over the early part of the season, we can’t manufacture a win against the best in tight situations. Injuries have hurt sure, maybe a fitter Treloar and a less burdened Bont make a difference, but Port have been burnt a few times in recent years in critical moments and they look ready to atone now. Hopefully we can follow a similar trajectory in 2022.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Yep, no better this morning. So many text messages saying “how could you lose that”, “you’re gone now”, “geez mate, first to fifth in a few weeks”, “contenders to pretenders”. I didn’t reply to any. What could I say except agree.

I saw a slight improvement in our desperation at least, but if Port had kicked straight in that first half, the game would’ve been gone at half time. I like Bevo, but I feel his time is approaching. He’s just too arrogant for his own good, and the “Bont years” are flying by. We need a Clarkson type, to bring in his own hardened apprentices, to play players on form, not given right.

I’m sick of seeing our team named on a Thursday night thinking “ here we go again”.

We have looked good thru the year, fantastic at times to be honest, but I don’t see that same team work, that same “US vs THEM” mentality, and that’s not necessarily on the coach. That’s on the leaders.

Power needs to make some hard calls starting with the retirement of Wood.

I’m so sorry the team couldn’t get that win for all my fellow woofers in Vic and NSW in particular.
I will never see #16 the same!!

What hurts the most is it's true. I read it all over Social media the last few weeks and there is no retort. We are pretenders and not much has changed since the EF last season or if you want to go back further the season before that.

I love the intent, but we’re out of ideas.

That team won’t be winning next week.

I like the optimism - keen on where you think the switch is? Is it in the coaching box, the intensity of the players, the vibe of the rooms?

Surely a combination, but some variables more important than others.

                        It’s the vibe.

I’ve said it before, but the body language says a lot to me.
Watching the team run out, and go through their pre game routines, I saw smiles and laughing etc.
I don’t want to see that.

You’re soldiers, going into battle. Top 4, heck top 2 on the line. Last weeks been shit, but tonight is the night. I want to see the team run out fully focused, with a steely reserve. Looking in the eyes of each other saying “will you have my back tonight .”.

How much do they want it.?

We were 4 goals up in the blink of an eye so maybe we should’ve kept on laughing?

                              Lol possibly.
And we didn’t do much else right for the rest of the game.

                                Same terrible sleep.

To be honest GvG I think the guys are shot. I have no idea why but the chemistry is gone.

They aren't playing as a team, they're tired.

Not saying we can't win, but the Dons will be flying into finals and we will be staggering.

Be a tough ask i can't see it.

Only hope I cling to is Martin. He may boost our boys if he's got anything left in him and can play next week at some where near his best.
