Re: Game Day 2012 - R17 Western Bulldogs vs Carlton

I thought there were some signs of better ball movent this week. We lack polish, clean hands under pressure, and pace. That's going to hurt execution in a big way.

Some of the kids did some alright things. Howard was ok. Pearce got a bit of it. Wallis and Libba were good. Williams up forward was something worth continuing with.

It's not ALL doom and gloom IMO.

The update of Panos when he doesn't even look like he is going to try him is another.

Missed the game because I was out for the evening. Extremely disappointed when I found out the result.

Recorded it so I could watch but struggled to get the courage to view it.

Have now watched the first half and thought Cordy showed better movement and Howard made position well. Was amazed to see him use his right foot TWICE

It's a joint effort and shouldn't just land at the feet of the new coach.
This is all true and can't be disputed, but, we can't keep complaining about what happened in the past. We need to work on the future and not repeating the same old mistakes.

There is no doubt in my mind we should be delisting, (as I have mentioned in other threads), moving on at least ten players, which sounds radical, but it needs to be done.

Re: Game Day 2012 - R17 Western Bulldogs vs Carlton

              Boyd
              Cross
              Liberatore
              Wallis
              Smith

You can make a case for each of them.
And you can't really trade any of them.

But collectively, that is an awfully one dimensional mid field.

Griffen is the only player left, who any one is going to bother to tag, and I can see it grinding him down week after week, tackle after tackle, we'll end up wrecking his body and spirit if it continues.

We can't play them all together if we seriously want to start challenging, so what do we do?

From those 5 players mentioned Libba, Wallis and Smith are the future in terms of our midfield. Boyd and Cross are now veterans in there who give 100 percent each week. We don't have those "middle" player who are 23, 24 to take over we have an aging list with promising youngsters coming through who are not at that "middle stage".

Boyd & Cross will not be around next time we challenge.

So do we just keep playing them 'til they retire? Seems to be the plan.

I even think Libba, Wallis and Smith together, is not a great combination.

Either that or trade them. Cross has no trade value so no point in trading him. Boyd does have value but can't see us trading our captain, members would be outraged.

That would be a huge improvement to the side, get rid of two of the hardest blokes we have.

The question was asked & i simply answered it KT31. I didn't say trade them, just stated what their value would be.

Nor should they. They should just change the roles. Cross to the back line and Boyd as a tagger would help the team no end.
