They can all play, that's why they get drafted. Until they get drafted there's no way of knowing if they're suitable to AFL.
Some recruiters are clearly better than others - its not random.

Do we still have the Liam Jones pick in the ND now that we've picked up Hamling as a DFA, or do we still need to chop another player?

Currently, with Tutt still on the list we won't be using 45 or 46 as live picks.

            9 off the primary
Cordy, Hamling, Boyd, Biggs, Redpath & Jong on

            3 spots left, picks 26, 27, 39, 45, 46

Tutt to move on/rookie list, Pearce, Prudden, Fuller to rookie list?

So we need to chop 2 players (Tutt included) to ensure pick 45 and 46 are live. What are we waiting for?

The younger players come back on Wednesday. I would imagine their conditioning might help make some decisions.

I still think we are very likely to have 5 live selections this year.

Surely we'd let Tutt go now. It'd be poor management if we traded Jones for a pick we won't use. Pearce is the other I'd part with. Fuller seems safe.

Hoping to use both those picks in the 40's.

I'd imagine the out of contract players (Tutt and Pearce) will be assessed by the new coach when he is appointed, and then a decision on whether we prefer them or picks 45/46 will be made.

                    It would explain the delay.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Have I got the following correct? List Lodgement 2 is 2pm Fri, 13/11. Is this the deadline that must be met to ensure we can use picks 45 & 46?

If that is the case, it could be touch and go as to whether we have a senior coach in place by then but I don't think it is a big deal. JMc et al seem to be managing the recruitment ok and the new coach can cut himself some slack as he will not be responsible for any duds.

For my two cents, I rate picks 45 & 46 higher than a couple on our list at the moment. I would rookie Fuller, delist Pearce and try and get Tutt to reconsider leaving. Tutt has some deficits (ball control, possession accumulation & marking, in particular) but, considering our current list & how much younger it is going to get after the draft, Tutt provides some badly needed experience and will push at times for a game next season. He does have a few pluses that give him a point of difference, most notably he is an outside run & carry player, quick and a long kick too.

Obviously, I have changed my mind on Tutt but this is due to Griffen & Cooney leaving.

Alex Greenwood has been asked to train with us. There is a fair chance he is still on the radar for a senior spot.

Sounds like we may be doing gladiators again for the last spot on the list (or even the rookie list). Remember 2 years ago when Goodes got the thumbs up?

I don't believe we can re-rookie Greenwood as he has already done 3 years.

I think you are right but I don't understand this regulation. If a bloke has done three years as a rookie and no-one wants him after the pre-season draft and he is happy to be rookied again, what is the problem?

Could it be that it would rob lower leagues of good footballers?
