For a kid who hasn't had a consistent run at footy since he's been there, he's certainly looked like he belongs in the short bursts he's had.Park that car

For all the potential he has, and I'm a big fan, he needs a decent run at it next year and has to show something or he might be in trouble.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Cheers Mofra. I was hoping to see him last season because I have heard good things. Fingers crossed 2015 is a better one for him.Comment

Re: Where to with Trade/Draft Strategy from Here?
I am pretty sure we are still entitled to draft him as a rookie. We just have to let him go to the draft and anyone can draft him. That includes us.Life is to be Enjoyed not EnduredComment

Re: Where to with Trade/Draft Strategy from Here?
He would have a 2 year contract but we can delist him. He then goes in the draft and if he is picked by someone else we have no further commitment.
If he remains undrafted, we can take him with our last rookie spot to meet our part of the contract.
We can also just cut him free and pay him out. The payment would then be part of the 2015 total player payment.Life is to be Enjoyed not EnduredComment

Re: Where to with Trade/Draft Strategy from Here?
Some more thoughts on how to use our 5 picks inside the top 50. I am assuming our list will be trimmed by 2 (Tutt + one more).
26. High accumulating pacy midfielder with excellent disposal skills. Why: we just need more of this.
27. CHF prospect who has a tank. Why: CHF needs are obvious and with the likes of Boyd & Stringer deep, mobility and a tank rather than an oak tree should be the order.
39. Defensive midfielder with excellent disposal skills. Why: look to upgrade the skills on the roles played by Boyd & Picken at the moment.
45. Hard nut state league midfielder about 22-24 years old and battle ready for 2015. Why: we have lost a lot of experience and need to add to the round 1 ready players we have acquired such as T Boyd, Biggs, possibly Hamling and perhaps Jong.
46. Something a bit out of left field such as a smaller player who is an excellent mark or a mobile ruckman who mightn't be that tall but has a massive tank and a good pair of hands or someone who is just a great natural footballer but isn't quite big or fast enough to attract attention earlier in the draft. Why: we are progressing reasonably well with building a core of players who fit the modern cookie cutter mould for the positions they play. By pick 46 the value may lie in someone who ticks the most of the obvious boxes except the ones they can do nothing about such as height or speed as opposed to prospects who look the part but are more athlete than footballer.Officially on the Bus-wagonComment

Re: Where to with Trade/Draft Strategy from Here?
I'd still be going key back with one of the picks.
Go with a mid with the other pick ( hopefully someone falls through)
With the other picks I'd go best available at that pick .Comment

Re: Where to with Trade/Draft Strategy from Here?
I still hope we consider taking a key forward if one we rate is available.
Reality is we have only two key forwards on our list: Boyd and Redpath. One is very young and will need support, whilst the other is an unknown and probably more unlikely than likely to become a good AFL player. I'd love for Redpath to prove that statement wrong as I like how he has developed, but if we're being honest, this is the situation as it currently stands.
Agree we still need a key defender. Not convinced on Roughy as a defender and Talia/Roberts/Hamling aren't proven nor are they monsters per se.
We definitely need to add mids to the mix, but having said that, I expect us to have a top 4 pick next year where we can land a likely gun mid.
A half back type of player would be nice but probably not high on the priority list given our other needs and the fact that we do have JJ/Darley/Fuller/Prudden/Biggs as options albeit very unproven. Nevertheless, there's competition there for now.
So for me and in NO order:
- x1 key forward (McKenzie maybe, Hammelmann?) Probably unlikely much quality will be left by our picks
- x1 key defender (Hammelmann? McDonald? Keitel? Should be some quality still on the board. Any of these 3 could be solid options.
- x2 mids (Menadue, Blakely, McKenzie, Gore etc.) A mix of run and ball winning ability is needed. Should be some good options left.
- x1 Best Available Always think that with your last pick, just go best available. If there's no KF as above, maybe our last two selections should be best available.W00F!Comment

Roughy to the forward line giving us three talls up forward and three in the backline.FFC: Established 1883
