This could be the perfect situation for a player to take his chances in the PSD. He's tried to do the right thing by his current club, but his current club are douchebags, so he is within his rights to strand them.

Is trading of preseason picks allowed? A trade with Carlton for pick #1 in the PSD would be the best outcome.

You just hope it's a trade they are interested in rather than encouraging him to enter the draft. I'd be happy enough with a swap of 2nd round picks but in reality I don't think we will get much perhaps their 3rd round pick.
It could be part of something bigger.
