We used to have a reputation as a good club for West Australian recruits back in the day.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I'm quite surprised at some of the backlash of this potential decision. Too many of us get caught up in the romance of youth.
Interesting one. I was initially not that keen on it given we have a lot of half back players in a similar age bracket, however as a worst case scenario he will provide coverage for injuries and be a good leader in the VFL side. Best case, he demands selection and becomes an important leader/contributor.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

The more phantom drafts come out, the more it seems the big slider is Rhys Mathieson.

Been having a closer look at him and can see him as a good fit for us. Has played his junior footy as an inside mid and is seen as a superb contested ball winner. This year went forward more and showed a strong overhead game and goalkickg ability. The knock seems to be his endurance, which may limit his effectiveness as a midfielder - although tanks can be developed.

He is really good in traffic and has a rangy Easton Wood, Bob Murphy like 185 cm build, so would be a good addition to our midfeld mix. He seems to have a really strong core, standing up in tackles when seemingly in trouble.

I can see him getting games for us either as a half forward or as a half back with occasional midfield bursts.

Watched a couple of interviews with him. Quirky kinda dude who lives and breathes footy and will throw himself into the club 100%.

Not completely sold on him, but if he's there at 24/25, I reckon he'd offer us plenty and may well be rated best available by us.

100% with you on Matheson - his has A grade ball winning ability, and at the range we're picking in finding an A grade attribute is important.
His disposal improvement as the year went on indicates he seems quite coachable which is something we tend to rate highly.

Yeah, I think that all relates to his role evolving from pure inside mid to a more versatile inside/outside link and finishing player. As you say, a developing game and coachability are important traits. Has made All Australian last 2 years so clearly has A grade attributes.

A VFL roughie for tonight's draft? Werribee's Josh Porter, a 193cm key forward, has his fans.Ex-Murray Bushranger who went to state screening

              Anyone know much about him?

He's pretty quick for a big bloke. Ex Murray Bushranger. I would have thought a rookie spot might be his best chance.

This is how I sort of hope it plays out with our 4 picks.

1+2) Tucker and Redman with our first two picks. Fiorini, Rioli and B.McKay might change the order.
                  3) Skinner. I like White and could see us going for Adams if Skinner was picked beforehand. Brown might be another option
                  4) Murray. William, Flynn or Moore

Just watched Tucker' highlights. He has a funny balldrop where he drops the ball with both hands, is that a potential problem?

It's doesn't appear that it should be an issue but I think it might be something that Dalrymple places a focus on.

Is there a bit of Jordon McMahon about it?

Mix of what I'm hoping for tonight and seems reasonably possible:

Pick1: Whoever slides out of Mathieson/Hibberd/Bonner/Fiorini in that order.
                        Pick2: Marcus Adams
                        Pick3/4: Sam Skinner/Matthew Allen/Matthew Flynn/Nick Coughlan/Gach Nyuon/Kyle Galloway in that order

It's how Jim Krakouer used to kick and he could find a target. Usually it was his brother Phil.

Oliver the bolter. Now the slider.

Oliver at 4 is probably the bolter of the draft. Now I'm interested to see who slides?
