Re: Bulldog Only Trade News 2021
Tom Morris reports ...
Hawthorn tall Tim O’Brien is set to join the Western Bulldogs as an unrestricted free agent on a multi-year deal.
O’Brien has spoken via zoom with Luke Beveridge, who was his first line coach at Hawthorn, and is set to play as a key defender for them in 2022.
Port Adelaide showed interest in O’Brien and spoke to him as well, but would have used the 27-year-old as a depth player.
The Dogs see O’Brien as a likely best 22 starter alongside Alex Keath in defence.
Nothing has been signed yet, though Port and Hawthorn sources expect O’Brien to join the Dogs in the coming days.
As an unrestricted free agent, the Hawks compensation will be minimal.FFC: Established 1883

Re: Bulldog Only Trade News 2021
Yeah, not a fan of this move. Apart from the last few weeks of the 2021 season and that mark what has he actually done? Is he quick? Has he got a good leap? What makes this pick-up put us in better shape than this year?Comment

Re: Bulldog Only Trade News 2021
Yes and yes but he's seen as an inconsistent player who has never reached his potential. He's cheap as well it's worth a shot for sure. He replaces Wood. Keath / Gards / O'Brien. But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

I don't see a lot of risk in it. I'll try and have a look at some of his games this year.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

I didn't know our mastermind was a player manager.
YOUNG TO BLUES WILL BE DONE TODAY: MANAGER
8.33am: Player manager Peter Rohde is confident his client Lewis Young will become a Blue as soon as today.
The Bulldog has been on Carlton's radar for some time, having starred in a VFL game played between the two clubs earlier this year.
"They've already pretty much agreed on a pick, but the Bulldogs are doing a few movements with their picks beforehand," Rohde told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.
"I think they've got a couple of ways to get it done. Hopefully it stays clear of any involvement of other deals but it'll all progress through today. I'm confident by the end of today, Lewis will find his way to Carlton.
"I think [Carlton] will shuffle some picks around. I also think they're likely to get something back for (Sam) Petrevski-Seton, so it might involve that pick. I think somewhere between (Carlton's current picks of 25 and 64), I think he was 49 when he was drafted. He's played 20-odd games in four years, so he's probably still got around that value."
Rohde said the Blues see Young as a key defender, having been thrown into the ruck at times by Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge.Comment

'Lewis sees himself as a key defender. The Bulldogs have plenty of them and Carlton have a need there, so Lewis sees himself settling in the backline.'

Perhaps a few more points will come our way or something extra for next year.
Good luck to Lewy.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
