This gag is probably unfair given how many new contributors we have...but if you can't find a sticky thread about contracts on the Bulldogs unleashed page with an up to date list of our contracts in the first post, then how much can we really help you??

Also kruder has been here for 14 years haha

If he dont like that, he can walk. We have paid too much in last few years for no play. Smith, Jamarra, Weightman and Treloar. Surely we need to be careful with someone like Treloar where we know he cannot fulfill his playing duties. Player managers keep wanting to lock them in whether they play or injured for the full season. We seem to have bad luck recently.
Just not going to happen. He wouldn't agree that deal and I wouldn't blame him when there will bs someone out there who will pay him very decent coin to run around for them.

It doesn't quite work that way but in essence the better way to approach this is to give him a fair money contract and an appropriate incentive if he stays on the park. Min contracts they way you have described it are insulting.
I'm all for being careful with a contract for an often injured player but you have to show respect towards a great club man otherwise other players won't buy into the club over the longer term.

I'm sure Treloar is open to that.

            Duryea - gold watch
JJ - Bullgod forever, gold watch
Baker - just not up to it
Poulter (if OOC) - ditto Baker
Scott (if OOC) - i like Scott and a very neat player, but his body and concussions.

I'd even consider delisting Gardner too even with a year left, surely he's on minimum?

Coffield, Liam Jones, Treloar and Libba 1 year deals, they can become part of our depth and can have an impact if their bodies hold up especially the older three if they want to play on minimum chips, in fact as of this week Busslinger is now taking Liam's spot, and Liam has to earn it back if he's up to it for the rest of the season and beyond, Buss will time to time fluff a few, but then so did Lake and his constant brain fades, but i've seen enough at VFL level that he's always in the right positions and get's plenty of it, he was BOG last week v Brissy.
This is not the year to cut deep with a heavily compromised and shallow draft. Perhaps if we are able to bring in 3 or 4 players through trade we could cut a little deeper as I can't see us taking too many picks in the drafts. We have also essentially taken Walker as a 2025 draft pick 6 months early (and need to delist someone just for his spot).

You would never delist a model citizen like Gardner under contract. It would be a good way to get opposition players to avoid coming to us in the future.

I'm fine with the running joke but when people who should know better go googling info I take the time to maintain here it's a little frustrating.

He can go. We can then have a decent player play 20 games instead of 2

                      My moves...

                      1. I'd be trying my backside off to get some kind of trade value out of McNeil
                      2. Retire L Jones, Treloar and Duryea
                      3. Delist Gardner, Coffield and Poulter
                      4. Trade Marra
                      5. Last chance saloon with Baker, Scott and A Jones and a beautiful swansong finale for the clubs only North Smith medalist JJ

Carlton - they currently have about 88 small pressure forwards on their list and McNeill would almost be better than all of them.

in the absence of BT, I know that we must turnover a minimum of 3 players. To replace those players do we have to draft them or can we trade in?

I get your take on not cutting too deep, but my position is delisting/retiring a total of 6 players means we'd draft in 3, maybe 4, and trade back another 2/3. Which i see as pretty standard year on year.

With Gardner its all well and good to honour a contract, but the flip side is, in my book he's not up to it. And you then run the risk of setting a low bar to the playing group along the lines of, dont worry about not performing, we'll let you sit in the twos nice and comfortably.

I believe you need to draft/rookie upgrade at least 3 players. I don't think drafting 3 players will be an issue but I'm not sure we would bring in 5 or 6 this year.
