We really need Busslinger to come through in 25.
I think we can be competitive with Lobb and Gardner. But we'd need everything to go right further afield so they're protected a bit.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I think we are a 6-10 side at this point.

But agree we should be aiming for top 4 every season it's the place to be.
It must be our turn to beat them then.

I don't rate Hawthorn much, I think that they're more the zip/six team that started the season than the team that came home with a wet sail at the end. And they've spent most of the post season drinking their own bath water, I saw them on the news talking about how they are going to beat Port in next year's finals. This game can be like an oncoming bus for teams that get ahead of themselves.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I am not sure hawthorn have improved. They were good last year as they were unconventional. A more traditional set up will make them more predictable.

I also don’t believe in port. Outside their midfield the list is bang average.

From a list perspective I think Carlton’s and Collingwoods are pretty sound. Adelaide will also come (However maybe held back as have heard the coach is a big issue - players would rather another coach)

          Aren't Collingwood really...OLD?

          Elliot, Mitchell, Pendlebury, Sidebottom, Crisp, Hoskin-Elliot, Howe, Mihochek, Membrey and Cox are already 30 and;
De Goey, Moore, McStay and Cameron all will be before the season is out.

That's 14x players. Which seems like a lot...not exactly all at the peak of their powers either.

I mean, they added Houston I guess but I don't get it.

Barrass is a fine pick up to be fair for Hawks, but will be hard for them to back up last season.
Cats and Pies are getting old.

The lions team is ridiculously good on paper. The depth they have is stuff that would dream of.
Daniher hurts but they are the team to beat.

I dont see many weakness at Freo. Probably my number 2 seed.
GWS lost some depth but I still like what they have and got some good draft pick ups.
Port will be up there again. Georgiadis could be ready to fire

Going to be a hot season but we did go into that first final as one of the flag favourites.
We need a bit to go right. Lobb and Richards training in the offseason in their new positions is a good start.
            Darcy can go another level.

Jamarra and English need to pull their fingers out. We have some weapons that others dont, but we need them to fire because other teams have far better depth. Hopefully our recruits can help fill the void

Daniher hurts a lot, like more than we all think... they don't win in 2024 without him and Hipwood isn't a no.1 forward, unless of course he gets to play against us every week!... and having tried for so long to climb the mountain is the motivation going to be the same?

                Re: 2025 List Management Thread

This is the afl.com.au best 22 for Brisbane
                B:
Tom Doedee, Harris Andrews, Brandon Starcevich
HB: Darcy Wilmot, Jack Payne, Dayne Zorko
C: Jarrod Berry, Hugh McCluggage, Zac Bailey
HF: Cam Rayner, Eric Hipwood, Kai Lohmann
F: Charlie Cameron, Henry Smith, Logan Morris
Foll: Oscar McInerney, Lachie Neale, Will Ashcroft
I/C: Keidean Coleman, Josh Dunkley, Levi Ashcroft, Cal Ah Chee

Emerg: Ryan Lester, Noah Answerth, Jaspa Fletcher, Darcy Fort

Cant believe Fletcher is listed as an emergency, his an absolute gun. You would think they’d have enough players pressing for spots to keep them hungry. Doedee, Coleman, McInerney, Gardner, L.Ashcroft etc will handy additions to an already strong Grand Final line up.
In comparison to ours, I couldn’t imagine the likes of Vandermeer, McNeil etc even being considered if they were at the lions let alone being best 22.
So we need some players to step up to match such sides I think.

B: Taylor Duryea, Liam Jones, James O'Donnell
HB: Bailey Dale, Rory Lobb, Ed Richards
C: Bailey Williams, Tom Liberatore, Harvey Gallagher
HF: Laitham Vandermeer, Aaron Naughton, Rhylee West
F: Cody Weightman, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Sam Darcy
Foll: Tim English, Marcus Bontempelli, Adam Treloar
I/C: Ryley Sanders, Matt Kennedy, Joel Freijah, Lachie McNeill

Emerg: Riley Garcia, Lachie Bramble, James Harmes, Nick Coffield

Can we calm the farm on the Brisbane hype train? But for a Giants choke - which they survived due to one bloke who has since quit - they don't make it.

Backline: Fine, except Doedee coming off a double knee, Starcevich being 12-months off conceding the game (and Norm Smith medal), Payne being BOG Average and Zorko being both a peanut and old. Sure, Coleman is coming back...from a knee.

Mids: Fine. Not sure Jarrod Berry is causing anyone to lose sleep. Bailey doesn't play wing so there's a still a hole to fill...and, well...Oscar is going to have some post shoulder surgery issues. Dunkley on the bench is a joke as an aside.

Fwds: Cameron hasn't been great for 3 years and Daniher is gone. Never seen Henry Smith so no amazed - Logan Morris is a tweener who played off Daniher. Hipwood? Don't make me laugh. I guess there is a chance this could be Cam Raynor's breakout or maybe everyone will acknowledge the obvious - after 5 years, he is what he is.

We stack up just fine. My only comment on our 22 (it isn't our best) is that I really battle to understand why anyone in their right mind would move Richards back to hb. Anyhow...

There's a reason we play the games. Worrying about sides on paper and drafts and trades and 'stuff' is such folly.

I had hope for Gags to be that guy but he seems to be doing pre-seasons higher up the ground (in fairness, he does have natural goal sense).
Jaques seems more like Ed Richards - small/medium and good overhead. He's arguably the draftee we most need to kick on really.
With many sides playing multiple smaller players I can see Jaques being an option to come in and help out with those match-ups. I agree we might need him to take a step forward a bit quicker than the others.

Not sure if you want rumors in this thread or another one.

Spoke with my player manager friend, but according to him the Dogs are heavily chasing Zak Butters from Port, we have met with his management this year and have outlined a substantial offer to bring him over at the end of 2025.
Port have also offering him a ''huge'' contract in both money and years.
And Geelong are also in his ear, with their endless cap, farms, land, etc...

My gut feeling is if Port have a crap year, he might be open to leaving.

Totally agree about Jaques , his intercept marking is very strong , he knows when to jump and when to stay back , very good vision aswell, he is the modern day footballer, great anticipation, and precision on the rebound , has a bright future.

Agree as we all know the older you get the longer the recovery period is after an injury , so the Collingwood faithful would have their fingers and toes crossed that they don't have many injuries because looking through their list there's not a great deal of younger players coming through, example West coast great side when their older and better players were going but when they slowed down or some got injured they had nothing coming through and look at them now total rebuild languishing on the bottom of the ladder , that's why its so important to have a balanced list , with players in the seconds banging on the door of the senior side which equals competition
