PICK 13 - GWS - Nick Haynes (Dandenong Stingrays)
    Height: 192cm Weight: 78kg Age: 19
    Forward/mid

Nick can play in a number of positions but is probably better suited to a half forward role. Has really come on this year and I think he was very unlucky to not make the team of the year in the TAC. Can also play in the midfield and the back line. Really good contested mark and has that running capacity which makes him tough to play on. He has really agile and has nice pace. His kicking is good, decision making could improve. Good tackler for such a slender frame. Still really skinny and will need time to bulk up. I guess if clubs don’t think he can bulk up enough, he will slide.

Why - Adds a different dimension to GWS forward line.

PICK 14 - GWS - Sam Docherty (Gippsland Power)

    Height: 185cm Weight: 83kg Age: 17
    Medium Defender

Sam is a half back that is really quick and has great skills even in pressure situations. Can break the lines and deliver with precision. He has a very high intensity level which makes him good defensively especially in his tackling game. Reads the play well and can get truck load of possessions off half back. He’s a good mark and can cut off attacks. I’m of the opinion that recruiters should pay more attention to these hbf’s. With the way the games been played now, it’s important to have player’s that can rebound well and be able to run through the forward press. Docherty does both well, so he should be in high demand IMO.

Why - Need yet more speed and half backs.

Doc, you have certainly covered the Lions midfield needs going forward. Was that the aim or was it just more around best available?

Haha thanks, gone with quite a few smalls too.

I wasn't really happy with the quality of talls available.

          ... Extra time please.

Docherty was the one I had earmarked. Good pick, bulldogsman!

          #15. Richmond - Elliott Kavanagh

Simply couldn't take the risk of passing on a player of Elliott's skill. Is he a risk because of his injury history? Yes - but it's worth taking. An elite AFL environment should (hopefully) be able to help in managing his body. Fully fit - he's a steal here. He's what you want in a player; good size, reasonably quick, smart and can use the footy. The Tigers are in need of another midfielder to help out Martin, Cotchin and Deledio (when he plays there). They're building a reasonably good list, and Kavanagh definitely strengthens this. Their mids are young and super talented - a great core for the next 7-10 years.

OK. With pick 16 the Fremantle Dockers select: Seb Ross, NB Rebels/VC.

Why? The Dockers LOVE their mids tall and able to kick a goal - and I think they will see Ross and last years pick (Pitt) as next in line to fill Mundy's shoes - one inside the game, one outside the game.

He is 187cm tall, runs well, kicks well and is really prepared to run the lines.

As an aside, I am back off to work now so this will come to a shuddering halt at pick 29...wont be back online until 9'ish Perth time (which is midnightish on the East coast.

Pick #17 Western Bulldogs - Daniel Markworth

I've read a lot about that we need to find a replacement for Lindsay Gilbee but I actually think we need someone to cover Ryan Hargrave. Markworth was a forward this year who spent time in the midfield but I have him earmarked for that tall rangy defenders role.
Quick off the mark and tailor made for the creative defenders role.

                  190.5 cm tall.

Pick #18 - North Melbourne - Todd Elton

Sorry I was unable to get on today, hope I didn't hold up proceedings. This worked out well though, because my top 5 for this pick were off the table and you grabbed the next player on my list.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

A bit of both really. Thought these guys fit the bill nicely for the Lions.

Seb Ross was one, Shane Nelson another but that would have been a speculative pick.
Brandon Ellis and Mitchell Grigg aren't quick but are good players worthy of consideration.

                                Pick #19- Essendon- Brandon Ellis

Essendon need run and good ball users off half back. Dempsey is coming off an ACL, Winderlich looks likely to be a forward in future, Myers is a spud, and the rest are slow.
