Okay so I know it's been reported that Jared Polec from the Lions will be heading home to SA. But, what if those two clubs can't facilitate a suitable trade? It seems that Docherty will be heading to the Blues for pick 28 or 29, and the Lions have said they want a mix of picks and players in return for their young stars. The Lions are very keen on Jarrad Grant and Jared Polec has just arrived in Melbourne. Also, this is taken out of the Herald Sun today:
"The Lions are keen to seal a deal to send Jared Polec to South Australia before finishing the Docherty deal but it is certain to be completed."
If the go-home factor isn't as a big a deal as what's been made out and Polec simply wants out of the Lions, could he be making his way to the Whitten Oval? Could this be the hold up in the Docherty trade to the Blues?

I believe Polec does want to return to SA and it's not just a case of him wanting to get out of the Lions. He doesn't care which SA club he gets traded to. With that in mind I wouldn't consider him.
Docherty however, is trying to get to the club of his choice despite the interest by a number on Melbourne based clubs. I have no sympathy for him if somehow misses out on getting to Carlton

If the Saints land Longer will that lessen the burden of losing McEvoy?
It appears they will trade Fisher to GWS and then move that pick for Longer. That would still give them picks 3, 17 and 21.
