I agree with AR on this one. Addison has proven himself at this level whereas Howard has a very long way to go to prove his AFL cretentials. Doesn't mean Addison is a star or even a good player, but he has played to an adequate AFL standard for a number of years now.

At best, Addison is a backup if we have injuries. He has guts determination, is a decent shot at goal, but he lacks lots of skills for a modern day footballer. He goes missing for long periods in a game.

If he can kick two goals a week for 22 weeks then keep him in, but I don't believe he can.

There is a reason why he hasn't got a new contract.

He's often placed under more pressure and scrutiny than he actually deserves but I understand that because he hasn't settled down in one or two positions.

I think he is a forward and the only problem I now have is trying to find a spot for him there. Jones, Stringer, Grant, Crameri, Dahlhaus, Hunter, Giansiracusa, Smith (when back) and Higgins would all be in front of him. Even allowing for injuries he will find it difficult to hold a spot.

I think this sums Addison up - nobody on our entire list can do this, yet Addison is placed under the most pressure due to this inability.

FWIW Gia had our highest average at 1.8, Dickson next (who some have said isn't in our best 22) at 1.69 per game.
Stringer and Jones are almost identical at roughly 1.2 goals per game.

I think he's in our best 25-28 players, and given I have no faith in Williams or Higgins getting on the park and Gia will miss games next year (he cannot play while carrying injury), Smith will take time and Crameri misses 5 or so games every year, Hunter and Stringer are developing and will be rested at times, Addison will get games in 2014.

I don't doubt he will get games but it it's likely to be less than 12 then should we look at someone younger given the players we will have to move on at the end of 2014?

I also think he is probably closer to about 30th best at the club and with that in mind if he is only likely to fill positions upon a consistent flow of injuries should we not acknowledge that now? The problem for Addison is that he just seen as a depth player and it's a midfield type depth not a key position or ruck one.

I like Addison and think many of our supporters judge too harshly but I think he will struggle to get regular games in 2014.

If DFA doesn't play regular games that's a good thing. It means we haven't had injury problems.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Any news on Addison actually? The free agency period ended on Friday with no movement. I think the Club has let him explore his options as he'll struggle to get regular games in 2014, but with the apparent shallowness of the draft I'd expect him to get another season.

Some jabber around that Brisbane & Carlton can't agree on a trade for Docherty. Carlton's offer of pick 31 not being good enough. The Lions may force Docherty into the PSD as a consequence. Fair enough I say!

That would make it interesting wouldn't it? We have targeted Docherty so we would have to be watching this closely. I wonder if this has anything to do with us not finalising a deal with the other mob over Crameri?

I think there is some merit in that Doc. If only Docherty could see we are a better fit for him because there could be some interesting options available. If he gets to the PSD we can't pass on him.

Appears that Saints are not keen on giving Brisbane any of their (3) picks in the top 20 for Longer.

Perhaps they're looking for a PSD bargain? Wouldn't put that past Pelchen.

Stats don't tell the whole story, for sure.

The purpose behind my post was mainly to be a bit cheeky, and try and illustrate that there's one player on our list who's marked harder than Addison is, and has his defficiencies magnified more than Addison does.

After coming to the club poorly developed, and dealing with injury in two of the four years he's been on the senior list Howard's output has been ordinary. Though people act as if he's shown absolutely NO sign of being capable of playing at the highest level, and IMO that's harsh.

Like others I wouldn't have been too surprised to see him given his marching orders, that's just how AFL football is. Chances are limited. Unlike a lot of others, I can actually admit that he has shown that he is capable of solid output at the highest level.
                                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
