    Sooo quickly.

Meh! I can always reopen it if I really have to make a point.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

      Re: Nbn

We have NBN fibre to the node and it is useless. It's been 9 or 10 months of dropping out constantly along with pathetic speeds. Wish I had never changed from ADSL. Telstra have been no help. It's actually only the last few weeks the drop outs have become less frequent.

Fortunately we are moving to a new estate with fibre to every home which is outside the NBN network, so I won't have to worry about it much longer.

psst... the good thing about the NBN is you don't have to stick with Telstra. Other providers offer more for less if they aren't giving you good enough service/reliability.

Maybe not worth it if you're moving though.

At my parents it's a 'Telstra Smart Community' which means everyone has fiber to the home but has to be with Telstra. Not part of the NBN

I'm in the CBD where i believe I get fiber to the node and the speed's not quite as good but not really much different.

I'm with Tangerine Telecom since I don't need a home/mobile phone deal and I piggyback a spare foxtel box off a family member.

Telecom / Telstra should never have been privatised in the first place, the NBN is the government's way of trying to make up for Telstra's lack of network upgrades

A friend of mine was forced to change to NBN through Optus - he previously had Optus Cable. He was having all sorts of problems with speed and kept complaining. After a few months, finally someone came out from NBN Co. They hired a cherry picker, got up the pole outside his house, and promptly said, yep looks like a possum has chewed your wires. My mate said, what about all those other wires everywhere (apparently a jumble of wires on the pole). The NBN technician said, "I am not allowed to touch those, they belong to Optus and Telstra" So looks like another two visits, plus hiring equipment.

Sounds like a crock of shit to me. I'd contact the Telecommunications ombudsman and let him sort one out mate.

Yeah mate I'm fully aware Telstra sucks but I just can't be bothered worrying about it as we should be in the new house within 2 months and I've got a million other things to organise! I doubt another ISP would help much with the speed though, I'm assuming the distance to the node is probably the main limiting factor?

I know that. I also know how high they jump when you mention the TO. Same as when I worked for the commonwealth public service. We didn't care about a complaint unless it was accompaned with a letter from the local member or the minister for the department we worked for. We just laughed at people and made up stories unless they had a ministerial.

I've had crackling lately in my phone line. Cant say for sure it has to do with the NBN but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.

On a landline phone? It's usually the cord between the handset and the phone
