We have just changed our usual fish and chip shop from Sommerville rd to the one in Geelong rd across the road from Apex Belting.
I can't stand that place, they constantly get orders wrong. It's not that they can't speak English, more that they just don't listen.

They never make mistakes charging either, even when they add things you didn't ask for.

You get extras as well? It was getting like fish and chip bingo everytime we unwrapped the paper. "Hey we got two South Melbourne market dim sims that we didnt ask for! No potato cakes though..."

Geelong rd isn't great but they do a passable grilled fish that's huge. Chips are OK. And I can sit and think about stopping there and getting chips with LOTS of vinegar on the way home from training back in the '70s and '80s while I wait.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The last straw for me was when I phone ordered what was clearly dinner for two. When I got home I found 6 fried Mars bars in the pack instead of 1 fried dim sim, then back solved that I'd paid for them. I normally just handover money without listening to what the cost was but I should've twigged when they'd added an extra $25 to the order. Never again.

Ah I thought he went quiet for a while. That explains it. Dead of fired Mars bar.

Well, there are worse ways to go...

                No there aren't, that's a lie.

He promised me 6 fried mars bars. I don't suppose there are any sign of them?

Honestly how hard is it to cook fish'n'chips?? The chips are always oily, massive coating of salt and the rest are rubbish.

The short answer is not difficult at all.

My usual fish and chip shop has opened again after a bit of time off but during that time I went another place nearby in Surrey Hills called Surrey Hills Fish Chips & Grill. I would say the chips are very good but it is quite oily and there is a lot of batter probably next time better to go for the grilled option. The Hamburger is good. Will be sticking to my usual place I go to I think.

My usual place closed down for a couple of weeks so I went to Conways.

Loved the fish, the chips were terrible though. Amazing one part can be so good and the other so bad.

Is that the one in Kensington Mofra that closed down? Kensington Fish Place? As I know you mentioned very early in the thread.
