Re: What are you watching at the moment

With a bit of time off recently I was able to get through the first season of Fargo, with a great story and cast it is one of the most enjoyable shows I have watched in years.
Have only watched the first episode of the second season and may take a couple more episodes to get into the vibe.

Also watched the first two seasons of The League, lots of blokey humour which can be pretty crass and inappropriate but I think the cast plays of each other pretty well and for some unknown reason its more enjoyable than it should be.

Not sure if I have posted it before but for those that like a panel quiz show, the Jimmy Carr - Big Fat Quiz series is on YouTube with guests like Jack Whitehall,James Corban, Alan Davies and Richard Ayoade it has plenty of laughs.
The Jack Whitehall and Mr Blobby episode is a cracker.

I'm loving the night of. Up to date with the US and still going well.

I've heard The Wire being voted one of the greatest shows of all time. I watched the first season and was bored out of my mind. Am i missing something?

I've heard it's very good, although apart from being on HBO and Richard Price being involved I'm not sure what the links to The Wire are.

I think you are right. David Simon = The Wire, Richard Price = The night of.

                    My mistake.

Price wrote a few eps of the Wire and is amazing but I've tracked David Simon for a while and hasn't seen him connected with this. No biggie, just thought there might have been some other connection I didn't know about. I look forward to seeing it anyhow

It took me three or four times to get through the first episode of the Wire. I had no idea what they were talking about the first time so I gave up after 15 monutes. People still raved about it so I watched it again but still didn't get it and gave up after 15 minutes again.

I think it clicked fifth time around.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I just finished possibly the best doco I've ever seen. On Netflix, called Cartel Land. If you can stomach graphic violence and human misery on epic scales it's well worth the watch. Drugs is only one part, but a lot more on 'vigilante' groups in the US & Mexico, what happens when law and order fails, cycles of perpetual misery, government corruption, the rule of law & order and the adage about 'one persons terrorist/criminal is another mans freedom fighter'. And much more, it had me completely entranced and happy to be on the other side of the world!!
