Season two of Longmire, it has taken a little to get into as I was hoping it was similar to Justified but now hooked and thoroughly enjoying.

The Handmaid's Tale is brilliant. (Husband thinks so, too.)

              The Keepers on Netflix.

If you think there's nothing that'll get you as angry as our recent run of form then watch this and let the Catholic Church put things in perspective for you.

Looking forward to watching the Handmaid's Tale. Awful story matter but it sounds like a really well told story anyway.

                I like stories.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It's slow and grim. My wife's watching it as I write... I endured all I can. Not a bloke's cup of tea. More a lady's thing. Grim Orwellian type of thing.

Re: What are you watching at the moment

I watched a doco on SBS catch up, about the 1936 Olympic Games in Germany. It's part sport history and part world history. I had no idea how much the modern Olympic Games has its origins in Josef Goebells ideas/concepts/influence, including the creation of the torch relay into the stadium. I had no respect for the current IOC, and open disgusted contempt for them now. I won't spoil anymore of the interesting bits.

If you like the history of sport while revisiting a horrible time for the world, it's really interesting.

Leni Rausenthall I think her name was. Was way ahead of her time in the film industry but was rumoured to be one of Hitlers gfs.
She doctored all film of The 1936 Olympics to be Ayrian and follow Hitlers beliefs.
She was also dating One of the athletes at the time and recreated a lot of stuff later on. If it's that film your talking about it was brilliant filming etc but a lot of it wasn't exactly the truth.

No, this was a different doco. I think there were about 5 or 6 Professors and authors of books all about the 1936 games in its totality. . The focus is mainly about the IOC and (I think) arguably how the contributed to the legitimising of the Third Reich. But also how the Nazis took this little athletics event and built it into what we now know the Olympics to be.

Just on Handmaid's Tale, when Margaret Atwood wrote the novel in 1984, she made it a point not to include anything that hadn't already actually happened in the world somewhere.

                                Makes you think.
