I think Usi has done well coming in at 3, considering the collapses, which means there has still been plenty of shine on the ball.

Handscomb is approaching 150 v NSW. You would think he will have just about booked his spot in the Australian team if he scores 200.

Vics are smashing them now, have scored about 70 in the last 12 overs. Handscomb 188, White 44.

Wade and Maxwell didn't do themselves any favours, failing with the bat.

Jackson Bird batted at number 4 as the nightwatchman and made 22 - cop that Rod Marsh!

With 22, he's got claims on number 4 in the test batting order or at least an all rounder.

You'd like to think Wade, Handscomb & Bird will be selected, Ferguson given another go on his home deck. Burns & Voges gone with Mennie & Nevill. Then it's down to one batsmen to find.

                1. Warner
                2. Khawaja
                3.
                4. Smith
                5. Ferguson
                6. Handscomb
                7. Wade
                8. Starc
                9. Hazlewood
                10. Bird
                11. Lyon

Surely Handscomb would only come in as a batsman, he doesn't keep at shield level.

Handscomb has forced the selectors hand with this knock. He enjoys pressure, was MOTM in the Shield final last year.

I definitley don't think he'll keep though. He's pretty average with the gloves

Fair point, will change. Wade also in for me then.

Just play the entire Vic team then. Provided Pattinson could be ready to go to offset losing Starc.

It says a lot about the state of Australian cricket that a batsmen who's played 60 FC games and averages 38 could be a walk up start for Test cricket.

I was going with the Footscray eleven (John Hastings was next up) but maybe the Victorian team might be more suitable.

I'd reckon you and I could be walk up starts if we put our hands up.
