Maddinson is reported as being the bolter for the test team. Just what we need another selfish batsman.

With 6 & 33 in this shield match and 113 and 0 in his last he certainly has more form than half of the current test team. Not better than about 10 other candidates but no need to worry about that.....

If true, then we can sack all the selectors. He's exactly why the team is the way it is right now. I hope it's not true, and so may he, it will cut into his Big Bash pay day.

IN Renshaw Handscomb Maddinson Wade Bird Sayers
OUT Burns Voges Ferguson Nevill Mennie M.Marsh

Maddinson has a heap of potential but I would have gone with him, not by a long shot. To me Patterson has the better application

Ferguson gets one test... For Maddinson who plays every ball on its merits for going for 6 or out.

As a test batsman I'm not sure he does have potential. T20 player

I would have liked Ferguson to get another cap - he's suited to number 6 and batting in India. Not sure why Maddinson was included. We're very raw through that middle order now.

I like the Renshaw pick. I'm not a big fan of Bancroft and I don't think Dean has the shots to be a test player.

This feels like the selectors are trying to find the next 10 year cricketer and don't mind discarding a few along the way. It's very different to traditional selection

The positives for me is that Renshaw fields a bit in the slips and I think Hanscomb will be a better bat pad or general fieldsman than Burns. We need to play Renshaw all summer now and stick with him.

How bad was the Rod Marsh call on Mennie? Clearly the other selectors weren't behind it. Mennie should have never been given a chance and the fact that he was rested for this shield game didn't help his cause.

Lemmon, Ferguson had 4 innings to show he had something worth sticking with and I'm not sure he was the right way to go anyway.
His run out in his test match I think has been his undoing.

I can't see why they've picked Maddinson over Patterson. I think Mark Waugh has probably made that call.

Wade is lucky, his rash shot in his only innings should have ruled a line through him. If Nevill had made 40 in the 2nd innings it might have been enough.

Dead rubber test. Good chance for some players to shine with the pressure off.

Can't comment on who, but guys who can compile an innings are important. Reckon Madinson won't play, but is in the squad.

Neville, unlucky, but to be honest, he hasn't nailed it. His glovework is great, but he doesn't have the gears in his batting. Wade is temporary, the moment a better keeper with just as competent batsmen he will be replaced. He neds to repkicate what Haddin provided.

I reckon a big reason for Wade's selection was his character. When we struggled, Nevill came across as an introvert who went into his shell. Wade is more of a street fighter who will stick his chest out and only get chirpier. We can do with a bit of that.

I actually thought Wade wasn't selected for vast periods because of his character. Street fighter / sticks his chest out vs bogan / smart arse = fine line. I don't think he is the most popular guy going around.

I do think we are missing a few good bogans in the side though.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

You think we are going to play 5 bowlers? Not likely - Bird or Sayers will be 12th man.
