Re: 2018 Tour of South Africa

Match fixing / spot fixing is FAR worse than ball tampering. Having said that the 1st two tests should also be forensically investigated, after De Villiers accused Warner of the same thing in the 2nd test.

With all the sledging and off field stuff, and then the disgraceful overturning of the Rabada suspension, this series should have been cancelled before this test. It is no longer cricket.

After last night, the entire team should be on the next flight to Australia, with those involved to face lengthy (if not lifetime) bans.

Of course it is, but multi millionaires resorting to the latter is far worse IMO than unpaid players coerced by illegal bookies into resorting to the former because they are flat broke and desperate for money.

That's interesting that means test is called off.
No captain and some of the players stood down.

I would imagine Lehmann is gone no matter whether he knew about it or not.
I would say any player who didn't make the team would be highly relieved.
Interesting on 12 th man too.

Tend to agree. The overturning of Rabada's decision meant the test match began with a taint of farce anyway but what happened last night turned it from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Surely the ACB can't investigate itself? It has to be the ICC or an independent authority?

Lehmann sent out Handscomb to talk to Bancroft, he knew what was happening. He and Saker must be under some pressure.
Smith needs to step down and we need to sack him. Bancroft cops whatever he should and the leadership group should be suspended.
It would appear none of them had the stones to challenge the decision.

We need some honesty and clarity in this.

I imagine this would impact on players 20/20 contracts too.

Malcolm Turnball has come out in a press conference and contacted the cricket board on the point of representing the country and what it means.
                            He is ropable.
This is going to get ugly for those involved.

No other choice. Lehmann should be the next to fall on his sword.

Watching Smith's press conference, he just didn't seem to understand the levity of what he did. Mystifying.

Ah well, Smith & Warner and perhaps The Marshes, Starc & Cummins can become full time world T20 comp multi-millionaires for the next decade.
