All out for 289, NSW 3/38 at lunch with their main man Patterson back in the sheds. His amazing run of form has ground to a halt in the last few shield games.

Brave call by the Vics to only go with 5 batsmen considering with Maddinson out injured and Maxwell, Finch and Handscomb with the ODI team the batting looks brittle. Luckily Harris is in the form of his life.

Normally the home team just prepares a road and bats out a draw, but with the change of rules (bonus points can decide a winner if it's a draw) it's good to see a more interesting pitch and game for a change.

Also Victoria didn't have a lot of batting options.
