I got tickets to the warm up game on the 25th v England in Southampton. Absolute bargain so am taking the family for a grand total of £43.

Also got tickets to the India, Sri Lanka, NZ and England round robin games so a big a month of cricket for me.

I like the format of the tournament being everyone plays everyone rather than group games and super 6's etc.

In terms of the squad, I am a little disappointed that Turner wasn't picked. Has real "X" factor. Would have preferred they did a wiat and see on Warner and Smith. Feel that after a great tour against Pakistan that they could upset the balance a little. Smith has hardly been turning it on in the IPL

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019

I went along to the Eng v Aust warm up game in Southampton. Result went Australia's way, but the game was played in a warm up spirit, with Australia resting Cummins and Starc and England subbing players out. That said positives for Australia:

Smith - his 116 was faultless. For a guy who has missed 1 months of cricket he middled every ball
Warner - batted well, just go frustrated and tried to push the tempo
Khawaja - batted well and had a good partnership with Smith. I would go with him ahead of Marsh
Carey - like his innings gave a real push towards the end without the fireworks. He just middled them to the boundary
Richardson - bowled well. Reckon it is out of him and Berendorf for the rd seamer spot
The Spinners - bowled well in tandem really tied down the English batsmen
Stoinis - his death bowling was great. Not convinced with him as a batsman though.

            Negatives -

Smith and Warner will cop a LOT of heat from he crown this Summer and at some grounds (ie Edgebasten and Headingly) the banter is unlikely to be as tame as it was at Southhampton
Stoinis batting in he middle order - he really is an all or nothing batsman. He can hit the ball well and far, but he doesn't run singles so he can be a liability eating up dot balls

Noticed Paul Collingwood was even fielding at one stage.

I have England slight favourites, they've taken aggressive batting to the next level over the last 18 months.

Game times for AEST - I cant wait for this tournament. It's probably my favourite of all the big World events (granted theres 10 teams!)

Agreed! It's why I still enjoy the ODI format. The ICC needs to make the in-between four years a real lead up to the showcase, similiar to what FIFA does with World Cup qualification.

Oh well, sa la vie. It is what it is and if a bunch of deplorables want to shout stuff from the crowd then it says more about them and their knowledge of the game than anything else. Just ignore it.

As far as sledging from the opposition goes, well you do have a bat in your hands...
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Convincing win last night, Stokes is a match winner no doubt.
Sth Africa might not be the team they were but if your not on your game they will beat you.

South Africa has a very weak batting lineup. Heavily rely on De Cock, Amla and Faf and 2 of them failed. Archer could well get the most wickets in the tournament. He looks deadly every time he rolls his arm over.
