He should have turned that into a nice 50 plus score. Now we are 4 for 250 with 10 overs still to come.
If Marsh and Khawaja can keep it together we should get around 330

Carey needs to bat through now. 340 plus is right on the cards if everything goes OK from here

COllapse......poor batting in the last 10. The point of Marsh and Usi is to anchor an innings and manage the tail.

Some really poor shots - Finch, Smith, Warner, Marsh out to up and under shots

This is superb bowling from Amir. It's the best game I've seen him play since his return to cricket.

What an appalling exhibition of innings management. A total that should have been 330+ will peter out at at around 310.

Momentum is right with Pakistan. This game has become a genuine toss of the coin.

If Pakistan can get through Starc and Cummins without too much damage, I think they win this game. First 10 overs of the Pakistan innings will decide this.

Exactly this. It's a game of resource management that we've failed at again.

Take nothing away from Amir, he bowled really well, but the way we started we are a minimum 30 runs less than where we should have ended up. We have given them a sniff. Need a big effort from Starc and Cummins......wouldn't want them to be a couple down tearing into Smith and Maxwell

Was closer than it should have been after to failing to close out our batting innings but we are now well positioned in the tournament.

6 wins should be enough for the semis and we should start favourite in all remaining games other than v England. New Zealand will be tough but we really should beat Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and South Africa.

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019

So after watching 4 games plus the warm up game here are my observations:

                                1) or batting is good, but lacks a real ability to accelerate late in the innings. Maxwell aside (and Carey to a lesser extent) we have no one who can score 50 off 35. Other teams in the competition do. This means we are comfortably looking at scores between 280 and 315, but will struggle to get beyond this.

                                2) Warner is no longer a better than a run a ball batsman who can pound attacks. Maybe its the English pitches. Maybe its the year off. I don't know, but he is more and more like SMith, Khawaja and Marsh in the batting line up.

                                3) Marsh & Khawaja can't play in the same side. They play essentially the same role, and increasingly he same role as Warner and Smith. 1 has to miss unless you play Stoinis a bowling allrounder.

                                4) Our bowlers struggle to take wickets and stop runs. Cummins and Starc are our main threats and off their combined 20 will usually leak around 4.5 an over (90 runs). This is fine given their ability to take wickets. The problem is if they don' take wickets whcih they have strggled to get early and through the middle part of the innings.

                                5) Outside of Starc and Cummins our other bowlers leak runs and take wickets at great expense, going for 7 to 8 an over (or 210 to 240 runs). We can't win a world cup with our remaining 30 overs going for 200+, we need a bowler to step up and keep it tight. Could this be Lyon?

                                6) Carey has been a real find. He bats well ad keeps the game moving. If he has a flaw its his glovework. He dropped Pandya on 0 which ultimately cost 30 to 40 runs at a fair clip. He missed a stumping off Pakistan yesterday.

None of this is news. Its what was flagged at the star of the tournament. Australia is good enough to beat any side on its day, and given i has 3 wins from 4 games, it should be able to qualify for the semi finals, but probably join 3 teams its lost to in the round robin stage (England, India and NZ).
