Big session in the nets. Shaun Marsh out after copping one for Cummings, Smith Finger, and Maxwell arm but should be ok.FFC: Established 1883

True, but the did beat them in the champions trophy in England in 2015, maybe that is still on their mind. On any given day Pakistan can explode or implode, somehow I don’t think India wanted to risk it.I will never see #16 the same!!Comment

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019
Unreal game against SA last night, once again Stoinis and Maxwell failed to make an impression with bat or ball and once again Carey played a great cameo that got us close to a winning position but really not that close.
Huge game now against the hosts who have rebounded strongly in the last 2 games
It looks like Handscomb in for the injured Khawaja and Mitch Marsh in for the injured Stoinis
Matt Wade must be unlucky if he isn't picked to replace KhawajaWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019
Wade has come into the squad for Khawaja. I think they are assessing Stoinis before they make a decision on Marsh. Stoinis hasn't been great thus far so won't lose anything with Marsh. Interesting to see if they go with the more steady batting option in Handscomb or opt for the explosive Wade who is in excellent form.Comment

The dilemma that the Aussies face is whether 1) you go with Marsh as a batting all rounder in your top 6; or 2) whether you strengthen your batting with both Wade and Handscomb coming in to replace the 2 injured guys. The former leaves you a batsman short and the latter means that you need to squeeze 10 overs out of Maxwell, Finch and Smith. What will those overs cost you?
In terms of Thursday's game, I think its going to be tough. If we lose the toss, without early wickets we will lose the game. The first 5 to 10 overs will dictate what happpens. For Australia to chase, we would need to keep them to 310 or lower. If Australia bats first, then I think anything North of 300 will be a good score; 325 will be a winning score. England are a completely different proposition on a flat deck at Edgebaston with Roy at the top of the order. Hope for some rain and humidity.Comment

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019
Can you bat Marsh at 5 or 6? That is effectively where Stoinis has been batting. Bringing in Marsh , you can only bat him at 7 and rely on him as a bowling all rounder. This would mean pushing both Maxwell and Carey up. Whilst there is an argument that Carey should move up, Maxwell is not a batsman I would want in any earlier than the 40th over.

Wade could be the wild card for us.

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019
I'd be happy to see the below - with Maxwell/Finch/Smith the options to fill the 5th 10 over block. Risky I know. But prefer recognised batsmen in the slots.
Finch
Warner
Smith
Handscomb
Maxwell
Wade
Carey
Cummins
Starc
Behrendorf
LyonComment

Re: World Cup Squad - 2019
Does anyone else kinda think that Wade and Handscomb into the squad actually make us stronger heading into the semi? We may miss Khawaja, but suddenly we have two far more dynamic batting options in the mix.
I feel like we need the extra bowling against England. I'd go:
Finch
Warner
Smith
Wade
Carey
Maxwell
M. Marsh
Cummins
Starc
Behrendorf

I was really worried about having to play in Edgebaston, but the truth is to win the world cup we were always going to have to beat England and/or India. In some ways if we beat England we carry momentum into the final. Its all knock out from here.Comment

We might get thrashed but get players that have form higher up the batting order

New Zealand struggling to post a defendable total before rain stopped play at 5/211 after 46.1. Looks like they may get to around 240, doubtful that will be enough.
Handscomb has been confirmed as an in by Langer. Stoinis has passed his fitness test. Speculation that Maxwell could be dropped for Wade.Comment
