    Do we make any changes?

Do Neser or Starc get a run?

Lower order runs might be vital in the series. Starc with some runs and new ball burst spells might be a nice option.

Lords traditionally favours the crafty seamers over the express pacemen. Neser is in red-hot county form and would be hard to combat IMO. He's a very good lower order batsman as well.

It's a toss-up with Hazlewood and Boland would be dead-stiff but he might miss - he got some stick in the 1st test. All 3 of Hazlewood, Neser and Boland would be a handful at Lords.

Tough call, maybe Hazlewood. Then see how Bowland is fairing for the third test. Keeping our guys fresh will also be important.

But tough gig with four very decent bowlers and a guy like Neser more than capable too.

I feel like the selectors may leave Boland out for Starc. It seemed like Boland was the most vulnerable to the aggressive Bazball batting, although it's worrying what they could do to Starc if he gets it wrong. Might depend how the pitch looks.

He only bowled 25 overs with a week off before the next test. I imagine he should be fine if he pulls up ok.

Given the way England plays it's unlikely any of our quicks will be required to bowl a huge number of overs in any given test.

As Axeman says, it will depend on his fitness. He seems to be more favoured than Boland.

I agree with Sedat, I would bring in Nesser for Boland.

                      I am inclined towards Starc.

I know he bleeds runs, but with their batting everyone does. He is more a likely wicket taker and his run up helps Lyon with footmarks.

He is also the most capable with the bat.

I don't have his stats in England but Starc's batting is usually all duck or no dinner. Technically Neser is comfortably the best of the lot.

                        Good point about the footmarks.

This - I think the selectors got it the wrong way around.

Starc should've played at Edgbaston. The ball was reversing, we lacked some extra pace in the attack and his footmarks would've been incredibly useful for Lyon on that dry wicket.

I think Lord's is the perfect pitch for Boland though. His stock and trade is that full length with some nibble off the seam, which is always challenging pads or the outside edge. I think he's absolutely perfect to make use of the slope with the way he slants into batsman and could use the slope to then challenge the edge.

I wrote at the start of the series that I wouldn't have had Boland in my side and would've gone Neser for the squad instead because he is a genuine out-swing bowler. I don't actually quite see where the 'Boland is perfect for England' chat has come from, except that he bowls mid-130s. I think Boland is great for the subcontinent and was really underused in India.

In saying that, this is the pitch where I'd pick Boland and not Starc. Unchanged side with Neser coming into the frame for Old Trafford and Starc at Headingley.

Lords has been re-laid and the slope is now less of a slope.

England will bring Wood into the bowling line up. I expect either Anderson or Robinson will make way.

I think the Aussies will bring Starc back in and I think it will be Boland that makes way. I would like Nesser to play, but I don't think its at Lords. Mark him down for Headingly.
