Quarter Finals
Spain 2 v Germany 1

Epic battle. 1st half didn’t get to great heights but was absorbing nonetheless with both teams trying to control the game. 2nd half the game opened up with an early Spanish goal. Great pass by Yamal which was slotted home by Olmo from the edge of the box. Germany were then chasing the game and Spain countering- both had chances. Germany scored late in normal time. Extra time loomed but there were still chances for both teams to score a late goal. Extra time was quite conservative with neither team giving an inch late in the 2nd period Spain with a late cross seized the moment and with Rudiger out of position Merino was able to head home a past Neuer. Great cross from Olmo. Fullkrug had a great chance to equalise but his header just went wide. Should have nailed it.

France 0-Portugal 0
5-3 Penalties France win

Didn’t see this one so not sure how the game panned out.

England are just getting through, maybe it’s a build up , Southgate would have to change tact big time if this is the case.

Dutch/Turkey game was pretty entertaining, would like the orange guys to go all the way.


England/Swiss game was the opposite. Southgate tried a different formation but still a pretty dour effort. Time to bin Foden for Palmer.

Turkiye took it to Holland in the 1st half but a tactical change at HT with the introduction of Wout was enough to totally change the game. Holland were able to dominate possession and scored twice within 5 mins. Turkiye then had to chase the game and nearly equalised a few times bar some scrambling defence and an excellent save from Verbruggen.

Wednesday 5am
Spain v France

Thursday 5am
England v Netherlands

Hopefully both are cracking games. Both France and England will sit back and wait for their opponents- need an early score in both to make them entertaining

Amazing - he's got braces looks about 10!

He nearly scored another similar.

England v Netherlands I think the latter have been playing better football however the Poms seem to be finding a way to scrap out wins.

I think Spain will win anyway, I think today's game was the final.

Great game. Both teams played well but Spain were excellent. Yamal is fantastic - what a future. Spain do look like the likely winners but you never know - any see England beating them and the Netherlands would need to bring their A-game. Hoping it is a Spain -Netherlands final

Disappointed that the Dutch didn’t get through but fair play to England. Definitely the better team in the first half and absorbed the pressure in the 2nd

Lucky penalty and Palmer feeding Watkins to get England over the line. These 2 should be starting.

It's a tough one because surely Dumfries should be able to make a play at the ball, but he goes in studs first and only gets Kane's foot.

Imagine it was a tackle on the ground (a player sliding in maybe) and the tackler was even fractionally late, they collected the strikers foot and, the ball was already gone. You would expect to see a penalty given.

I think if he makes contact with the ball it should be play on, but I am happy with the penalty. The big downer is that I think Spain v Netherlands would have been a better game.

It feels like destiny for England at this point. They have just been doing enought to get through each game. Lucky pen when you consider that VAR had to intefere for something that wasn't a stone cold miss by the ref.

Spain will start favourites, but tournanment football is a funny beast and it just feels like the football gods are with England in this tournament.

p.s. that was the first ever semi-final in a major tournament that England has ever won away from home
