Referee was right, the rule was wrong.
Bet Calvin carries that thing all the way to the sideline next time.

Have no idea how that call is being received in the media in Detroit, but imagine if something like that happened in the AFL.

The Mike Sheahan, Patrick Smith, Hutchy & Caro would have a simultaneous infarct.

Favourites are Indy & New Orleans who played off in last years Superbowl.
Green Bay, Baltimore, New England, Minnesota & the 2 x New York teams probably round out the likely contenders.
I'd throw in Tennessee and Houston as smokies based on Week One performances

It's more of a national media then each specific market, so seeing it happened to Detriots, no really cares as much as if it happened to the Colts.
Glad to see we've got a lions fan here, i was going to come here and suggests them. They are definitely on the way up. Stafford will be a gun if he can be protected (miles ahead of Sanchez IMO), you can build a D around a player like Suh and they've finally got a good Head coach (it always the D coaches that get it done.) Calvin on the other hand is a monster. Same height, yet heavier than Jono Brown ( doesn't at all look it) and has blazing speed, an amazing set of hands and a nice set of moves. Would have to be very close to the best athlete in the league, and one of the best I've seen in general for a long time. A lot of potential there.

On a side note, comparing the level of athleticism required, it's just no contest after i thought about it. Nic Naitunui had a vertical leap of 30inchs. He would have greater endurance than them, but a 30inch would be laughed off as a joke. Every year there consistently 110ks LBs are TEs jumping over 40, even the players criticized here for being obese, players weighing over 130kgs are jumping close to 35. As far as i know the record is from the great Randy Moss at 51inchs. 131cm

really blows the mind thinking about it

              haha, exception.
Other than him and Dungy (technically an D-coach aswell, just had really really offense that powered teams) the last 9 or so superbowls have been won off Defense.

Struggling with injuries on the O-Line. Big surprise them losing to the Bears at home regardless. My pre-season picks of Baltimore and Dallas are looking shaky already.
Flacco is looking awful in B-more. They've put up 20 points in 2 games.

The Jets came to life in the 2nd half vs the Pats (who simultaneously lost the plot) and Sanchez looked good.
Braylon Edwards arrest for a DUI after he acted like a clown in the win could be trouble for them though. Although Santonio Holmes will be back for the Jets in week 5.
Big surprise is Tampa being 2-0, although not against the toughest opposition. Pittsburgh did a huge job on Chris Johnson and the Titans last week on defence. 34 yards and a fumble killed my fantasy team.

The Lions manage two close losses. No word on when Stafford will be back but Suh is killing it. Shame the DB's are so awful. Looking forward the the game against the Vikings this week. Favre could complete 40 passes or get killed.

No-one runs on them when Polamalu plays...he covers for the linebackers and Woodley and Harrison just basically seem to tee-off. I think they had something like 25 tackles, 5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles between them (not to mention the head of Vince Young!).

That said, with Hampton missing I can understand why you didn't substitute CJ. Who knew they could hold it together on D without their Nose Tackle.

And I have Flacco in my DT.

Lucky he is currently my backup, but he is close to getting cut!

I didn't substitute because my back-ups are Fred Taylor and Felix Jones

I had the worst week ever in the history of Fantasy. Didn't play Brady but Eli had a shocker too. My receivers didn't crack 100 yards total and my backs had 70 yards and a fumble between them.

Has a safety ever been able to transform a team like Polamalu can? They were average without him last year, but the D is all of a sudden a force again.

I dont think they were that bad last year.

Baltimore were tough, and the Bengals had a year of dreams...4 losses inside your own division right there. The Steelers haven't done much so far this year to prove that they are truly back, but the presence of Polamalu certainly allows the defense to roll the dice a fair bit because he is always there (or at least, always seems to be there) to pick up the pieces.

Doesn't always work out though - he was in coverage against Fitzgerald when the Card's went ahead in the 2009 superbowl on that simple seam.

I actually made an observation to a mate during this season that Brian Lake was playing as close to Polamalu as anyone I've ever seen in AFL Football.

He was just everywhere mid-season, the ball seemingly attracted to him like a magnet.

I foolishly benched the Steelers DST in my fantasy team thinking CJ would run all over them. Never again!!

                              Re: NFL Discussion

Well it's been a pretty funny season so far.
There's no really obvious best team in the NFC or AFC, although the Steelers, Ravens, Jets and Pats all look pretty good so far in the AFC. I honestly couldn't pick a best couple of teams from the NFC. The Cowboys have been surprisingly bad, killing themselves with penalties and poor O-Line work. Questions abound about Romo too and despite what Jerry Jones says surely Wade Phillips isn't far away from unemployment.
Biggest surprises are the Chiefs who started 3-0 before dropping a couple, the Rams who are somehow 3-3 despite blowing a game to the Lions by 38 points, and the Broncos who despite their record could, I honestly think, win the division if they can find someone to run the ball. Orton has been surprisingly good.
Chargers are struggling with injuries. The Bengals are not a patch on last season and Carson Palmer seems to have jumped the shark and honestly could have thrown 30 int's.

Was really disappointed with the Ravens against the Pats last week. Looked to have the game comfortably under control with a 10 point lead in the last quarter and then the D let the Patriots O get going and the Baltimore offense went incredibly conservative when they'd moved the ball pretty well in the first 3 quarters.
Watched the Colts-Redskins last week too and seriosuly was amazed that if the Skins DB's could have held onto the ball, manning would have thrown 3 or 4 int's in the first half. The Colts are winning but don't look the team they have been.
The Redskins are improved but don't look quite good enough to be a playoff team.

Looking forward to Minnesota vs Green Bay next week.
