Anyone know which players from both states are missing due to injury or National commitments?
This is from the bushrangers website:
McDonald conceded the Victorians' depth will be tested by the unavailability of four key players for the final - Black Caps import Ross Taylor who has his own domestic commitments, along with Peter Siddle, Clint McKay and Cameron White who are on ODI duty.
The trade-off is that the Redbacks lose Shahid Afridi who will be representing Pakistan in the Commonwealth Bank Series.
Rob Quiney, who made a slashing double century in Premier Cricket at the weekend, Aiden Blizzard and James Pattinson are the likely inclusions for the Bushrangers though McDonald still holds out some hope for Dwayne Bravo who missed Tuesday night's preliminary final win over the Bulls with a fractured thumb.
How is it never going to be fair. 10 games of home and away is a lot fairer already.
Whilst I have enjoyed the back and fourth I have to agree with Ernie here. The comp can't be taken too seriously whilst in it's current format. And with 40+k people going to the games it should be given more priority over the one dayers.
One other thing they desperately need to do is not have a ODI match that takes players away from teams in the final.
- Bowls average leggies
- Battling/decision making/shot selection is awful. He's just all brute power and often sacrifices easy runs with wild swings that don't connect properly or miss the bat.
I've watched all the Vic games in the 20/20 this season except one i think. On at least two occasions his batting has halted the scoreboard, something that simply can't happen in 20/20.
I think Cricket Australia will (well they should) fixture their games a little better next season such that these clashes don't happen again.
Yep. The T20 comp has rapidly outgrown this treatment. Not trying to criticise CA for their fixturing, they are backed into a corner with planned visits and the like. No excuses from now though, it's clear it's a hit and the prelims and finals at the very least should feature full strength sides.
I can definitely see an exclusive window for the comp when it goes to a franchise format in 11/12.
I would go with:
Hodge
Wade
Finch
D.Hussey
Quiney
Blizzard
McDonald
Hastings
J.Pattinson
Holland
Nannes
I don't see the need to play the all-rounder in Maxwell as Nannes, Holland, Pattinson, Hastings, McDonald and Hussey should do the job.
Finch has done well in his short stint as an opener but I have moved him to add some depth to our batting. I see Hodge, Wade, Finch and Hussey as our best 4 T20 bats and would prefer to give them the most opportunity. McDonald can also slide up the order if we are in a similar position to that in the prelim.
Great batting from Blizzard at the death, just wish they settled for a single to get him on strike in the last over.
I think 166 will just be enough. Nannes looks like he is back to his stellar T20 best and the pressure of chasing in a final is big. I think the Holland and Pattinson overs will be telling,
