Re: A League
I'm planning on heading down to Aami Park sunday to watch Heart play Perth Glory. Expecting numerous goals.
BTW does anybody know who this may be? (From Heart's facebook)
Huge surprise coming your way this Sunday!
"We will announce who will wear number 12 on Sunday prior to the game. A big name who will add plenty on and off the pitch."
"I can confirm the FFA have granted permission to have an additional number." - Scott Munn
Let the speculation begin!I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: A League
Would have had a bay to yourself ^^^
Gone 3 games without scoring!
Absolutely abysmal the Victory tonight, lacked any sort of system, no overlaps, no possession.
There is a smell of Peter Rohde about Mehmet .
Better in the final third would have given Heart a winComment

Re: A League
He said the Victory arent playing a good plan nothing about league?
Personally I think the manager is on borrowed time already.
The A league is slowly getting better, crowds are huge in Melbourne which is why blokes like Harry Kewell are playing here, its definitely growing.
Football standard wont be up to european standard, lets face it we have been spoilt with live games and best quality on telly.
I went the other week and most of the supporters i was sitting with were AFL supporters and after the game they all said they would be back. This was a nil all draw!
AFL has competition building now but the smart thing is its in opposite seasons , i actually think cricket is in trouble.Bring back the biffComment

The league is what it is. It may rise or fall 5% percent or so in quality from the season before, but it'll forever be a halfway house for young players going to Europe and a retirement village for those coming back at the end.
Based on last night, if those supporters you went with the other week saw that rubbish they wont be back the next.
Most of us will be gone or in our twilight before it ever makes massive inroads in terms of funding/quality.Comment

Excellent call Ledge. That's correct. He didn't call it a shocking league, i did.

The league is seven years old and is finding its feet in a highly competitive sporting market and good progress is being made.Comment

I've been a member since day one and have been to roughly 90% of the home games. I'll make any informed comment i want.Comment

Re: A League
Can I ask do you attend/watch all games on a weekly basis, or can a make judgements on baseless assumptions about you also?Comment

Re: A League
I watch as much of the A-League as someone who lives 3 hours from the city can and I've even made it to a few games.
When you use a post criticizing Victory's start to the season to rubbish the league, I don't think I'm out of line in drawing that parralel.Comment

Re: A League
The league is still young and improving all the time. They have gone about it in a smart way and it is really copying the J-League in many respects and I think in 5-6 years time we will be there.
Calling it a half way house is where you will be mistaken IMO. The time where young players are leaving to go play in League 2 in England are finishing and you can already see more and more young Australian talent staying.
The Victory have been terrible but thats down to the coach and his insistence on trying everything except for the logical. Why he hasn't tried either a 4-3-3 or my preference of a 4-2-3-1 with Archie, Solorzano, Kewell and Carlos all playing and swapping is beyond me. Victory players are also stupid and try and give the ball to Harry every single time despite him being triple teamed.Comment
