Re: A League
I went along to the final last night at AAMI park. Gee it's a good product the A-League are selling, watching guys like Honda and Toivonen and Barbarouses (even a little shit like Krishna is fun to watch) from great seats for less than 40 bucks must be close to the best sporting value in the city ATM. The atmosphere with the singing and the chants is great.
Speaking of Honda. He had a crap night where hardly anything went right for him but he's still come up with two assists (Or was it one?) and always took two defenders even if he was 30 metres away from the ball. The guy is a genius. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: A League
Western United Football Club is delighted to announce VU Whitten Oval will host an official Hyundai A-League game for the very first time when the Green and Black play at the Footscray venue on Australia Day.
Western United will host reigning FFA Cup holders Adelaide United in a Round 16 Hyundai A-League clash at VU Whitten Oval in Footscray on January 26 (KO 6pm local time).
Playing at the Footscray venue is part of Western United’s vision to bring top-class football to as many fans in the West as possible. VU Whitten Oval joins Geelong and Ballarat as areas to showcase Western United as a club that represents the entire Western region in the A-League.
“Western United is a club that brings top-class football to the whole community of the greater West, which is why the Green and Black are playing in Geelong and Ballarat this season and have plans in place for a boutique stadium in Tarneit,” said club CEO Chris Pehlivanis.FFC: Established 1883

Re: A League
Awesome , whether your into the game or not, this can only be good for the club, both clubs using other codes to bring supporters and they don’t clash season wise.
I’m actually wondering why we haven’t got a netball team of our own considering we have courts on the precinct and most country clubs have both.
Make the Whitten Oval the home of the western region in all sports.
Pity we couldn’t keep with the cricket team but that is impossible now with the women’s team, training etcBring back the biffComment

Re: A League
Footscray J.U.S.T played a few games at our great ground in the early 80’s until the vfl booted them off
For the youngsters on here they had their home ground on Footscray rd amongst all the warehouses !
Hard to believe there was once a soccer ground there !
Serbian team who played a Croatian team was never ending wellComment
