The easiest of stumpings is quite a bit over the top.

It wasn't an easy stumping but it should have been taken. I think it's one of the reasons why Peter Neville is still apparently in the mix for a test spot.

yep agree with that and one of the reasons i mentioned earlier in the thread that Neville would be a deserving candidate. Think Wade is a better long term option

Since when did being a good keeper get you in the Australian side the last 3 years?
          Same as the spinners.

Hmmm, 42 not out will get him a trip to the West Indies. That should give Tim Paine enough time to recuperate and be ready next summer.

            Well done hadds.

Is this sarcastic or are you genuinely pleased that we might stick with a crappy keeper in the hope that a bloke who hasn't played in months will somehow find form and fitness immediately and take his place?

I'm worried Panie is becoming the innocent victim here?
Although done nothing recently due to injury, he also has done nothing wrong either. When fit he is the best keeper in the country, or atleast the best for the keeper/batter/leader etc position they want from him.
In a perfect world he will enter the spot through performance when he comes back. But if Haddin is (sigh) still there when Paine is fully fit, I will not be complaining if they had the gloves straight to Timbo.

Don't get me wrong I've got nothing against Paine but holding a spot for him given how long he has been out for and the fact he has only played 4 tests is one thing, keeping a bad player in the team so someone else can't usurp his position is ridiculous.

That Petergm would pleased this could happen is even more strange to me.

Didn't they announce on the Cricket show last week that Paine is a 90% chance to never keep again?

                        Never play or just keep?

never keep. Just read up on it again and it was Rodney Hogg that said it is well known in the cricketing community that he won't keep again.

Now even if he is wrong with this much speculation you simply cannot just stand around waiting for him when you are using Brad Haddin as a stand-in

Now that he's not even performing with the bat, he is zero value in all areas (except presumably in being such a tactical mastermind that Pup can't live without his incredible vice-captain). ANY state keeper (and 90% of club wickies) is better with the gloves, and since Haddin's not making runs anyway, anyone who can come in, keep better (ie. avoid averaging 3-5 dropped catches and 20 or so handling errors every Test), and make ANY runs at all would immediately represent a marked improvement. It's not rocket science.

                            Elementary, my dear Watson.
Seems to be the case with Micky Arthur wanting Haddin to remain for the 2013 Ashes saying that "Behind the stumps, the leadership he gives us is insurmountable and you can't put a price on that."

They could be taking 2 keepers to the West Indies though so progress may finally be made
