I'm not keen on it either. It's a decision based on poor scheduling not because it's the best thing to do for the side.
If it's because they feel Watson can't bowl enough then maybe they should drop him but given he is saying he can bowl then do we really need another bowler?

What was wrong with the make up of Australian teams that won everything just gone.

6 bats, 1 keeper who can bat, 4 bowlers and the bats had some p/t bowlers.

If there needs to be a change, I'd do Rogers to Zhughes in a heartbeat. I'm not sure what Rogers has done to keep the spot??

Watson came out on the weekend and said he can bowl more overs than he did in the first test.

I would keep Bailey in, let him settle in and show us if he is going to be a test cricketer.

Averaged 40 in the last series? Bit harsh to drop him after 1 poor test, unless you are an advocate of the revolving door selection policy that Hughes himself has been a victim of in the past?

I'm not sold on Rogers at this level.

I think Hughes is the future, and more experience on more types of pitches against the best bowlers is what he needs now. We know he can dominated the shield, so what's next in his development if not test match cricket, as an opener, I'm not too sure.

I don't necessarily disagree with you but Rogers deserves another chance and I don't think it will do Hughes any harm to build a body of runs at Shield level and actually earn a recall.

I'm not as trusting of Watsons word as I once was. He is desperate to hold his spot in the team as an all-rounder given his batting average is so poor.

On talent, he should be averaging over 40 with the bat.
He is 33 years old and can't continue to skate by on his potential given he has made just 3 test centuries in 87 innings.

In the next two tests he needs to step up with the bat, A couple of stylish 30's shouldn't be enough for the selectors.

The ECB are lobbying to have Brisbane excluded from future tours due to the crowd being mean to their players and the media being hostile. It's the most laughable thing I've ever heard, the English media set the benchmark for how low professional journalism can sink, and their crowds make Collingwood supporters look two eyed and fair minded.

This is coming from someone who has played and watched cricket in England. Bullying is a gentle way to describe the behaviour. They really are all give and no take as a nation.

Let's just have every test played at Brisbane then. Not in the spirit of the game but England have been happy enough to bend the rules previously so who cares.

That's cool. We can insist that every Ashes Test Match in England must be played at Lord's then.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

And we play all 5 at Perth!

The problem I see with that is, the national side is not a development side hense the reason I think Rogers is ideal right now as a fill gap opener who has years of experience and most definitely deserves his spot, his game style I believe is exactly what the side needs as that stable grinding away really valuing his wicket type, rather than just hand the spot to a player who hasn't necessarily earn't his spot, Rogers has an average of over 50 at first class level and a proven quality batsman.

The likes of Hussey and Hayden really had to earn their spots after years of grinding away at first class level first.

Players like Hughes, Khawaja, Doolen still have plenty of time to keep grinding away and really gain the experience to one day REALLY earn their place.

                                Seriously?

I mean, is that really happening?

The British, really..........they've crapped their way around the globe for hundreds of years with their fancy clothes and nice manners. I'm sick of it.
                                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
