Wasn't the central premise of the debate that his record is inflated by piling on huge scores against minnows in artifically doctored conditions for batsmen?

Not sure centuries against Bangladesh, Scotland, and a pitiful England in matches where 350+ is a par score does much to dispel that. His hundred against Australia was good, then again Australia made nearly 400 batting first.

Fair point, Dhawan has piled on the runs but I'm still no fan. Kumar get any points for style? In my mind he's looked the best bat on show by a considerable margin along with AB

AB has been immense I reckon. He's been smashing games apart. Maxwell is in some good form. He could get some really big scores.

It certainly does from me. Kumar's style is more likely to hold up in tougher conditions than the way guys like Maxwell and AB have been getting them. Not that we'll see too many tough conditions in future considering the way things are being manipulated.

KS is probably my favourite batsman to watch, certainly from a side outside of Australia.
He's also a ripping bloke from all accounts. Does a lot functions when he's here and was even on RRR one time.
Always seems to bat well in Australian conditions too, seems to always do well down in Hobart. Will never forget that test where he nearly made a double ton before being wrongfully dismissed on 192 chasing 500+ to win 97 short, that just showed what a quality batsman he is.

Agree with the general philosophy that some players numbers are inflated but Sanga's numbers do stack up against the best teams and also away from the home ground dustbowls. He is an elite cricketer and would have been in any era.

Considering the weather, and the consequences of not batting extremely quickly (under the normal circumstances the run rate was fine before the rain came) to secure the victory I was really surprised to see Clarke opening the batting, and Warner and Maxwell not coming in sooner.

We got really close to being made to look stupid this evening. We should have let our hitters go hell for leather in ten overs to get it done before the rain set in.
